I like ot think of it as organized chaos.. Some may call it a rubbish tip. It's realy easy to find things. Just dive in the pile of rubbish.
This is the end result if you buy too much crap off ebay. This could be you so stay away from ebay people!
ps: it was a very crude stich so the monitor is off and so are a lot of other things. It's realy a tiny room. Soon I am moving to another room in my house which is a lot bigger and I can't wait to make a fresh start.

Yup. Orion Trekker II. I like that it folds in half and you just yank the camera out. Keep lenses up top. I am a pretty big guy and I like that it's so adjustable to fit my back with either a t-shirt on or all my motorcycle riding gear when I go mobile.

Sadly, my lens isn't wide enough to get the whole workspace in one shot (it's in a kind of smallish room). Here are my desk and wet-darkroom printing workspace:
http://www.shadesofblack.org/albums/misc/desk.jpg
You can see the light-table in the background, the enlarger is to the left of it at a 90º angle, parallel to the desk. The desk wraps around to the right.
http://www.shadesofblack.org/albums/misc/enlarger.jpg
Said enlarger, I use that low cabinet to the left of it for my trays, paper and miscellaneous storage is to the right. That weird white thing on the cabinet is a fan-thing with a filter.

Desktop was built by me and one of my friends. I use it at home to post-process.
Specs:
-Thermaltake Tsunami Case
-Asus P5WD2-P Intel 955 Socket 775 Motherboard
-Intel Pentium D 820 2.8gGHz
-OCZ 1024MB PC6400 DDR2 800MHz EL Gold Dual Channel
-WD Caviar 300GB Serial ATA HD 7200
-WD 120GB External
-Ultra 500W X-Finity Power Supply
-Asus CDRW
-HP DVD 740VE Burner
-Powercolor Radeon X800GT 256MB PCIe w/Dual DVI
-Acer 19" Flat LCD
-Saitek Eclipse Keyboard
-Microsoft Laser 6000 Mouse
Laptop is a Dell Inspiron 600m (1.8ghz Pentium M, 1 GB Ram, 80GB HDD). Used while at school for post-processing. My desk is alittle messy at the moment because I just recently put it all together. The scanner laying on top of the Norfolk Southern track chart is a Yaesu FT-60R (which I have yet to program). On the wall is a small "collage" of photographs I had taken - it was blown up and printed at poster size by a local printshop.

I had them build a U shaped desk with one side as a pinensula. It's awesome. Wish the one as home was this nice. When we do our addition it will be though.

Okay, so the nostalgia of wet chemicals is fading and we're all [mostly] digital now... So let's see your digital "darkroom!" Maybe add a few lines to describe your setup.
Here's mine. It's a five year old Mac G4 "Quicksilver" that's been beefed up over the years. 620GB of storage, 1.5GB RAM, 24" Dell 2405FPW LCD, FireWire CF reader... That's a 24-70mm ƒ/2.8L under the LCD for scale. It's not a rocket ship but it gets the job done very nicely. I was going to upgrade this year but decided to let the Intel switchover progress a little more first. So I spent the money on L glass and the LCD instead. :)
The desktop background is an awesome shot of a field in Wisconsin in winter, shot with a 16-35mm ƒ/2.8L if memory serves, and is copyright by a POTN/Flickr member here. I want to give credit, but I'm spacing the name. If it's yours and you object, let me know.

D'ohhh! Didn't think to search for "workspace." :o
Thanks, Michaelmjc. I've been using a Sun 21" monitor for about six years and it served me well, but it's getting old and a little fuzzy. Totally killing my eyes. I was hesitant to make the leap to LCD - but with the weight, power, heat and space savings... Not to mention being able to read the screen... It was worth it. Still adjusting to it, but it's hard to argue with a 1920x1200 resolution.

I was going to go that route but got lazy cause i didnt want to clean and paint a heatcore, so i got an CoolingWorks™ CoolRad™-12T 120mm Radiator, nothing spectacular, but i was only cooling my pressy so didnt need much more, $39.
As for the view, thanks, thats the reason i moved into the place, that was my old house i was renting - cant take any current pics, but will find some i have taken - i often climbed on the roof @ night an took 30 sc long exposure shots.
The house is on the side of a mountain overlooking the central valley of san jose costa rica and surrounding area - i had 3 volcanoes in my view (all in active) it was so peaceful to look at. The mountain you see in this one is an inactive volcanoe, Arenal is still active, but further north.

Sitting on my roof, as you can tell it was windy, i had to hold my tripod down, thas why it is not as sharp as i would have liked :(

I got a pretty good deal on my double heatercore, $35 from dangerden.com (1977 Bonneville Double Heatercore + fittings (http://www.dangerdenstore.com/product.php?productid=48&cat=14&page=1)). Luckily, it was already modded with the fittings (for 1/2" ID tubing of course) so all I really had to do was throw it in there. Of course it isn't very easy to fit double heatercore inside a case (size of 2x120mm fans), but after a bit of cutting, it fit just perfectly! I also have a full size tower which helped (http://image.www.rakuten.co.jp/arpanetsystem/img10091246120.jpeg) to fit.
My cousin and I decided to paint it anyway. It was no trouble though since you should only put a light coat. You obviously don't want any trapped heat inside your radiator. ;)
Supposedly heatercores are supposed to dissipate heat better into the air, but if you aren't cooling some madness, then single rads do just fine. As you said, since you're only cooling your CPU, I'll bet the rad does a perfect job. I was pushed towards getting the double heatercore because of how much heat my 6800GT pumps into the system. On the stock cooler, it used to get as hot as 90C! Now, it runs no higher than 41 C.

^^^ that is why i loved my coolermaster stacker!! room for a 3 x 120mm rad if i wanted in 2 diff places - so a nice case helps - but if a dremel doesnt scare you then any case will do :), i know the heatercores are the best core for the money and i do beleive they are more efficient then most rads - surely more then the one i had and alot of people do praise them!
That is a nice large case! i love the room, as much as i want small shuttle, my next rig is going into a stacker 830 - love that case as well and i just love the freedom you get with all the room, your not cramped!

But I love having a computer that actually works when I am running the RAW files. And the set-up allows me to go between 3 computers in my house for the internet.:D

Must strip it down and rebuild it after a good cleanup....

My god, I think if I were to let a few volts leak out of the PSU into some of the fluff buildups, we could start the evolution of life all over again!
Under the mess and jungle of cabling [I don't build machines like this for work for what it's worth - do what I say, not do as I do, etc...] there are the following:
Asus A7N8X Nforce2Ultra mobo
Athlon XP 2400 [266FSB]@333*13 for appro 2800 spec [was 3200 spec@400bus but installed some cheap RAM which put paid to the FSB speed..]
1gb DDR400@333mhz [2x512mb, dualk channel]
2x SP120C SATA HDs in RAID0 set
1x WD Caviar [spits] 40gb 8mb cache 'special' edition. Allegedly...loud and slow...
GeForce FX5700 LE
4x case fans
1x aero7 HSF [needed for when I had 3200 spec, pointless now]
LG 16x DVDRW multidrive thingy
3.5" floppy drive [required for RAID set!]
Crappy generic ATX full tower case thingy, only bought for the decent 3.5 bays and because i was in a hurry - had all the bits and nowhere to put them...
Oh, and the Altec Lansing 2.1 sub thingy for annoying the nieghbours.
Shopping list for Monday - 3 cans of compressed air, electrical contract cleaner, and incidentally, a set of quiet fans and quiet HSF along with some arctic silver - I have forgotton how loud this damned thing is....
I vote my PC to be the roughest one here. And I think I win...it's the downside of living like a pikey student, in a room that is barely 7x10ft, with all my possessions crammed in there....

LOL :) You remind me of my son, except, he sent his CPU home for the summer FED EX and they lost it. He had 18 months worth of MP3's added hardware and files gone and he insured it for $500. Poor kid.
He's 22 now and just got a DELL laptop for himself with a zillion things on it. Kids and their toys. He's hoping to inherit my 10D for himself this summer. He's no poor kid anymore.
Edit: Doesn't all that electronic stuff make your dorm room very hot?

Dorm room? THis is a rented bedroom in a flat I'll have you know! I'm a respected IT Professional working in one of the most exclusive boroughs of London, don't you know ;)
Proof:
http://www.evoposters.net/carpics/album231/fizzog.jpg
Yeah, it does make a bit of heat to be honest - it' makes a great space heater in the winter, but come summer it really starts to get on my tits and I get ideas of building a MiniITX thingy, one of those cube jobs, or possibly [whisper it] a Mac Mini with a decent thridy party TFT...
I'll always have a WIndows machine however, need something to keep me in touch with work..
Anyway, as I mentioned, do as I say, not as I do - if my work lot could see those snaps, they'd wet themselves - I'm the single most pedantic git in the world when it comes to cable tidying, cleanliness, dust avoidance, etc with the boxes I build at work.
However, this is my box, and if I want it to be filled with fluff, fag ash [that aero7 makes some really pretty puffs of dust when you flick cig ash into it] and some dead insects, then I bloody well wil have it filled with it. If it dies, I'll just ahve an excuse to build another one

My home has 4 computers on the internet now, I use 3 of them all the time. I'm inheriting my 18 year old's 4 year old HP laptop and my 8 year old is getting my 5 year old laptop. This new Dell was a dream for my photography stuff and I am grateful to have all you money-spending-great-gear-hogs making me feel like I need to be doing my photography better. Suzy - having a small room is a complete PITA, however I completely fail to see the point of moving to a larger room as I would still have the inconveniences of sharing a flat [shared facilities, and *shudders* other people...] so I am waiting till I can afford my own flat before shifting.
However, even on over £25k I still can't even afford to rent a studio flat.
London - thge worlds most hilariously overpriced property evar. I don't even live in Lodon, I live 25 miles out, and a studio flat is still £100k...

Dude... it would take me a month to clean my work area up enough to be able to see my setup... I usually have (2) laptops and (1) desktop up at any given moment. I've got a 75Gb USB hard drive just under my 23" flat panels (I use a dual monotor setup for the desktop). I've got a 300Gb network drive and a switch sitting to the right of one laptop. A scanner and a Yaesu FT-847 sitting the left of the other laptop (Yaesu is ham transceiver. NE5U for any HAM operator / photographers out there.) Bills (I'm selling those real cheap to anyone that wants em. Just PM if you want to make an offer.), electrical drawings, cause and effect matrix, and all kinds of other work related bs sitting on this desk... whereever the desk is... I assume there is a desk or this stuff is made of anti-gravity material... And on the list to buy is (2) more 23" flat panels for the laptops... I'll have to get a wall mount for the displays if I do that...
If I ever clean this mess uo I'll post a pic.
PS- There some very nice installations shown so far... I'm envious.

If you put them to work... they don't hold up. As I tell our IT people (and I get along with most of them fine since I used to do that part of the job before we got an IT department. The company that I work for is 20,000+ employees... we kind of grew a little), the IBM's are fine if all you do is send emails, type word documents, and build spreadsheets. I do all of that plus use 10 different PLC programming software packages, two different HMI programming packages, 8 different operator interface programming packages, numerous serial and ethernet drivers, a couple of different spread spectrum radio setup software packages, and a couple of data communication analysis packages. The IBM bites the dirt (BSOD) a lot. My Dell doesn't. Ever. The IBM doesn't come with a serial port. Since I connect to a myriad of devices with a serial port that's kind of important. I am using a cardbus serial port at the moment and it seems to be ok. I know what software crashes so I run what I can on the IBM and what I can't I use my Dell. Both are using XP Pro by the way. When the dirt and dust gets to be too much and keys start sticking I can turn my Dell upside down and tap it on the edge of a desk  viola... clean and ready for action. The IBM ... I use one of those girly man cans of air to clean it out so as not to have anything fall off of it :D <might be a little stretch but I have cleaned my Dell as described...>
If you saw what my laptops had to "live" in... you would be amazed that either work... and the Dell is almost 5 years old...

So then get a CTO with a keyboard without a track point and your problem is solved.
I love the fact that the Thinkpads are all designed to be user servicable and IBM readily publishes the several hundred page field service manual complete with part number matrices for each machine they make. I have yet to find that with any other laptop manufacturer.

Floppy dirve isnt useless.
let see you install XP when your SATA controller isnt supported
lets see you flash that bios AND save a copy at the same time in DOS.. cant do that on a CD :)
FOr some legacy items are always useful because of the tools they have or are used too.
Sure, with In windows bios updates that is great and i do think the floppy should be done away with, as well as PS mice and keyboards

It is hooked into the network so usually I just turn it on and use its resources on the upper computer. I have the keyboard and mouse hooked up primarily for shutting down and fixing any problems. The lower computer does run Windows 98, so fixing errors happens at least 2 out of 3 runs. It is mostly just down there cause I've got no where else to put it. It is scheduled for decommision at the end of the year. :)

Here's the business end of my workspace. The CPU is homebuilt (in an Antec P180 case) and sits in a corner in the back of the room (basically out of sight). I can choose between a sofa or a leather recliner for a seat and use a wireless mouse/keyboard. Networking/computing is my profession and was also my hobby before photography regained control of my free time.
great set up, but i must correct you - it is not a "CPU" - a cpu is the processor on the motherboard, not the entire system :)
What tv is that ? plasma or LCD? quality looks fantastic.

Thank you for pointing that out to those less familiar with PC components. I am well aware of this (I am an IT professional: MCSE, MCSA, etc.). However, I use the term CPU loosely in forums such as this in consideration of the general terms used by the audience.
And to answer your question, it is an LCD (Sony XBR 40" Bravia). I had a plasma but exchanged it for this LCD because the image quality seemed so much better. I think this was a difference more in comparing the individual models though and not so much the technology.

you have no idea how long it took to find a place to put it on. we shopped for weeks for something that was suitable but didn't cost a fortune.
I did lift it and move it around by myself, but I basically can't move afterwards.

Heh, not technically an "Alienware" any more, just the case now, over the years I've upgraded everything in it, I added my own 100% internal watercooling last year :)
Yeah the desk is kind of a pain, I'm actually pretty tall (6'2), i generally end up sitting kind of at an angle.
Thanks for the comment on the picture, I used a tripod to get 2 exposures, so I didn't blow out the window curtains (too much..)
*edit* here's a pic of the insides of my PC, excuse the poor image quality
