I like this. I used one of these a long time ago. Still got a couple sitting on my "old stuff" shelf.
The shadow at the top bothers me though.

yes, there is a problem with the shadows. I did this for a Flickr group but I think I will go back and rework it in Photoshop (gradient tool?) to get smoother shadows or something. I actually inherited that slide rule, when I was in school (1970) electronic calculators were replacing slide rules and mechanical adding machines. - but they were still using IBM punch cards!

so this is what they call slide rule. this is actually the first time i see one. thanks for sharing. btw, i'm an engineer but i've never actually used one. :)

I've actually sort of used one a couple of times. You wont hear many 19 year olds saying that. But my Cal 3 teacher actually showed me how it works and he even had a circular slide ruler too.

That brings back memories - used one during my school days, lovely capture. Big advantage in exams over using log tables for calcs.

Reminds me I should dig out my old "slipstick" to remind me how ingenious these things are. Fermi and Oppenheimer didn't have no stinkin' calculators in their day and they did just fine :-)
