Excellent, how much will it cost?
Good for studio, don't have to link up with the long cable. But also more weight and size for the 1DSMKII
I will wait for a new generation with faster transfer rate.

It would be interesting to know what this will cost, anybody know that? It's around $1000. Kind of steep, but it has a lot of potential ot change the way we shoot. Wireless-G is pretty fast, too, I'm not sure when we'll be seeing a faster replacement for this device.

Several different sites are showing it for $950.
Nice toy, but beyond my reach for a long time ... better lenses come first.

Much as I'd love to have this gizmo,. there is no way I'd spend $1K on it,. maybe MAYBE I'd spend up to $500.00 ,. but even that's a little dear. When you think of what lens or camera body you can get for $1K it's just insanely over priced!
Not to mention what a Wireless router etc.. costs these days. The tech in that device is just not worth $1K,..

I agree, the price is steep, and I don't know all the details yet, but it does have more logic than just the typical wireless router. At the very least, I know you can configure it to transmit JPEGs only, RAWs only or JPEGs + RAWs. I'm sure there's more, but yeah, $1000 is way high. Hell, a whole wireless laptop is cheaper than that.
But it has some potential, especially in sports photography. A lot of pros use card runners now at major events, which results in quite a bit of delay. Instead of taking 15-20 minutes worth of shots and then waiting 5 minutes for the runner to get the card up to the booth, every picture will get to the editors machine in seconds. I have my own ideas on how I can put this device to use, but for $1000 it's definitely a bit steep for the "cool toy" aspect of it.

Need to see:
- how many raw that it can transmit for 1DSMKII and 1DMKII.
- does it transmit from the raw data from the CF card or direct from the camera's processer.
- if transmit from data from the CF card, the write and read from the CF card will slow down the camera a lot also the buffer will fill up in second.
- if transmit direct from processer the data may get corrupted if the signal is not strong enough.
- etc..............

I wonder,. at $1000.00 a crack,. it may have it's own rather healthy buffer built in?

There is no limit how man RAWs it can transmit (Don't forget the 20D is supported too).
It transmits from the CF card, and can be configured to either transmit as shot, or if you don't want it to slow you down, you can browse the pictures on the camera when you're ready and check off just the images you want to send (A special feature only enabled when the transmitter is connected).
Transfer is via FTP, and use can use canon supplied software or any FTP server will do.
And it connects to the 1Ds Mk II and 1D Mk II through the firewire port, and to the 20D through the USB port.
