Hi-o!
I just got a Bigma and it's so great! But how the heck do I carry it? I have the shoulder strap on it, and w/ the camera attached I put it over my shoulder, but am i going to damage anything by not supporting the camera? How strong is the lens mout?

That's All!

Dunno how practical it is with the Sigma tripod mount but when I'm carrying my Canon 100-400 attached to a body I tuck the tripod mount foot inside my belt or trousers waistband. Wuith the neckstrap adjusted correctly the weight is all on my waistband with the neckstrap simply providing stability.

Bigma is signficantly heavier than the Canon 100-400mm,. so I'm not sure the advice translates in this case,..

The rule is that you support the lens , not the camera on a rig this size. So you are doing the right thing. When I have a large (and I mean LARGE) lens mounted to a monopod or tripod,. the lemns is mounted to the tripod of course,. which inevitably ends up slung over my shoulder for carrying. No harm to the camera at all. It may be advisable to keep the camera strap long enough to go around your neck even when the rig is slung over your shoulder.

For the Bigma,. I would highly recomend you invest in a good solid monopod and try working with that,. in short time you will be adpet at letting the monopod take all the weight while shooting,. and use the 'pod ove rthe shoulder to help with trekking too. And your photos will be better too! ;)
