Those are great. How close were you? Were you using a TC or just the 100 - 400?

Nice shots, Phili1.

There are eagles on the Delaware River? Boy do I feel silly. I'm 15 minutes from there.

Thanks for ther comments. It was proboly the most exciting thing that happened to me this year. I meet an Eagle expert on FM forum and he has been doing this for years and has a vast group of people who keep him informed. My first trip was to Forestburg NY at the Mongup preserve and I was so far away you could not get anything good, The next time he had me go to Lackawaxen Pa. at the mouth of the Lackawaxen where it meets the Delaware. It seems that in December the Eagles of Canada migrate there for food. and then return in February to nest.

Anyway we were in a parking lot fom 830am at about 10 degrees with a wind, when the Eagles graced us by landing on the ice about 50 to 70 feet away searching for food. The thing that got me excited was some of my flight shots came out great. I atribute it to the Bogen Gimbel head, it works like a charm.

I did not use an extender, I wante d to keep my auto focus for the flight shots.

Hey before these shots I was a newbie to bird photography.
