Wow! You did a great job of capturing their expressions. They really make some intense expressions. They are really into the game. Just curious - What equipment are you using?

You're lucky that Grays is a bit far for some of the less than friendly Newport County fans to travel.

Nice pics though .....

Here's one that I took today. Believe it or not, this WASN'T a goal

Cheers pdrow! These were shot on a MKII with a 300mm f/2.8L - all at 1/1000s, f/2.8 - with the exception of the presentation shot of course...

Great as always.

I'm kind of excited for the up-coming girls soccer season. I only got to shoot one game this fall (boys) and i had a lot of fun.

I wouldnt say it's an easy sport to shoot, but it's a sport where you can get a lot of quality photos.

Man, that guy is getting some good air time. Not to mention he looks like the actor 'Matthew Lillard'.

Great shots, & the next to last one looks like he's going to spike it! I loved VBall, & much appreciated the lower level of body contact! ;-)

Thanks very much Timmy... football can provide a lot of opportunities for good shots. Just like any sport, the more you shoot it, the better you read the game and your hit-rate starts to improve. I'm sure you'll have plenty of fun when the new girls season gets underway!

Indeed, i'm gonna try my best to pick up a 300mm f/4 for that and baseball.

I think my 200mm is workable but a 300mm or 420 (with 1.4) would make it a little easier.

You use a 300 2.8 yes?

I really like #2 &3. Did #2 bring a call from the official for dangerous play?

It should have resulted in an indirect free-kick for dangerous play - but the ref didn't give anything and the game continued! What a surprise!

Gmen what a wonderful set of images. thanks for sharing with us.
no 2 is my favorite.
sometimes you look at a picture and an idea comes to mind or you remember seeing something similar before.
Going with my thoughts, is thinking back to a line of ballet dancers all on one leg, arms raised and in a pillar box format.
Now imagine taking these two guys and lifting out in photoshop , say a line of 3 or 4 in the blue and 1 in the orange .
I know i get carried away at times !! thats just me i'm affraid.
did i forget to mention how many thousand copies would sell ? printed on canvas of course ?

wonderful images
Cheers

I agree with the IFK. I'm a state official in Colorado and of course a memeber of the blind and dumb referee club of America ;-)

Nice shots. I really like them.

Thanks Martin... I can see where you're coming from... now it's just about finding the time (and talent!) to put it into practice!

first, I'm a newbie.

My ten year old girl plays soccer in a rep league. I've been searching for the best "sports/all round" lens I can find.
Anyhow, in all my searching, your pics are the best I've seen. I can't see how they could be any better, all your shots are excellent.

I just thought I should post for the simple reason, I'm very impressed with them all. I had my wife and daughter sit and look at them all, they loved them too.
When I can take shots such as these, I"ll know I'm there :)

Thanks very much Paul. Your comments are really appreciated!

Keep shooting, keep practicing, apply everything you learn from one shoot to the next - that's the best advice. Make sure you post some of your pics soon!
