A couple of weeks ago I went back to the office park where a pair of Red-shouldered Hawks nested last year. After the chicks fledged, I'd only seen 1 or 2 of the juvs a few times in the spring and the adults just a few times also. I was hoping that the adults would return again. Well, it looks like they're back!

This is the one that I think is the Mama, she's blonder and has a lighter chin. She posed for a few minutes and then went hunting for lizards. It was pretty cool because I'd only seen her on the ground once before and couldn't get any shots. It's a bummer that the full wing spread was through the bushes, but it's still a pretty cool pic. The one where her back is to the camera is great because it shows the white blotch on her head that I don't think I ever noticed before.
