I try to take my bag with me as much as 75% of the time. Yesterday, I go to the auto show here in Chicago and think "No. Going out to dinner afterwards and don't want to lug it around with me". Missed some amazing opportunities.

Today. Even worse! Had to go to the office this morning. Wanted no temptation so I could get home before noon. What do you think happened? Big Fire just around the corner (kinda my Gig, you know?). Get there with our first engine. Huge amount of actual fire. At least 20 Rigs. Unlimited access. Tons of smiling, soaked to the bone, soot faced firefighters. Real danger of wearing out at least 1 of my batteries(and those of you with a 1D Mark II know how hard that is to do!) Could have been a ton of good shots but nothing! I ended up pulling hose all morning and helping my good friend the Chief manage the fire suppression.

BUMMER! Doesn't it always happen that way? I bet if you stood in the shortest line at the supermarket today, it would turn out to take the longest.

No thats not how it happens.

- pick a line, its going slow
- scan for a shorter line and change to that
- the short line now takes for ever and the person that stood behind You in the long line has now paid and is leavbing the store

I Know the Feeling!!! I was coming home from work (we have to drive past a airport).... and low and behold there was 3 RAF helicopters ready to take off!!! i left my camera at home because i forgot it :cry: im was so pis**ed off

what was even more annoying, my girl Friend said "oh well mabe next* Grrrrrrrr, i hate it when people say that! THERES NEVER GOING TOBE A NEXT TIME IT ONLY HAPPENS ONCE AND ONCE ONLY!! :evil:

Yeah, I agree with the above poster. I don't carry any P&S around with me at the moment simply because, while small, my S30 is still too big to fit in my jeans/shorts pocket. So, I am thinking of selling the S30 and buying a true pocket P&S.

I've gotten into the habit of always having my camera with me. I drive a van, and would prefer to have a trunk to put the camera in on those short jaunts into the grocery store, but the windows are deeply tinted, and my bag is black. I haven't had a problem thus far.

Since I've been carrying it, though, I've not seen a single thing that made me want to stop and take a picture. It'll happen, though, and I'd rather be ready than have to kick myself...
