Wow, beautiful color amadain. Excellent work. Looks to be around 20-30 minutes?

Yup you're right it was 25minutes! I would have left it longer but clouds started to move in and they would have ruined the shot.

That's lovely, 20 to 30 minutes is just right I think, and the foreground trees really work nicely. Top marks! :)

Thanks... but I have a little secret, not sure if it's obvious...

The foreground trees are actually small bushes on the overhang of a cliff!!! My camera was facing almost vertically upwards. Does it look like a landscape type of pic?

Fooled me (Which isn't hard by the way), I thought it was woods....

Lookign forward to heading out over thenext couple of nights and having a go at this myself, just trying to think of somewhere near me that is dark enough where I would feel safe carrying my gear...lol

Excellent.

Unusual to see the centroid so low to the horizon...

The "horizon" isn't really a horizon. The "trees" are just bushes on the overhang of a cliff, my camera was pointed almost straight up.

I know what you mean. My garden's okay, but a little limited, and I've thought about the local park, but the local "yewts" put me off a bit. What I want is to find an interesting monument or something to put in the frame...these shots always look better with trees, shrubs or buildings in the frame I think.

And if you can try and take it at the widest angle possible it adds to the effect by getting more stars into the shot.
