Besides me....
Released a few days ago...adds to the Russian firmware.
Added functionality by the UnDutchables
--------------------------------------------------
Continues Drive in Basic Mode
Jump = FEC only selectable in Creative modes
Left key = AF-Mode only selectable in Creative modes
WB selection in Basic modes
Custom Function 1 available in basic modes enabling:
- Quality Select via SET button, this means that RAW can be set in basic modes.
- Parameter select via SET buttons
- Menu via SET button
- Image Replay via SET button
The biggest addition for me was RAW in sports mode...now if I could just crack the ISO and Av.

I'll leave it here for a few days. Remember to virus scan anything you get off the web.
I think you need a password on the hacking site.

The Undutchible firmware seems like a gisped version of the russian one, it does the same exact thing as the russian one, just limits where you see the options and such, also I've heard there are some instances in the undutcuble that would cause your camera to crash, like for example changing the quality mode from raw to something else, when in the Basic Modes will cause the camera to crash, and you have to turn off the camera then back on again, With the russian firmware I havent had a problem, and I see no reason for the undutchible to be better.

Hey Karl, thanks for the info. I was wondering about the reference to a possible crash in their description of the hack.

Yes, anyone installing this one had well read the warnings beforehand. I'm passing on this one. :(

kb244 I was unaware you could shoot RAW in sports mode with the Russian hack. Please show me how.
I wouldn't worry about the camera locking up. It runs dos. I would never install anything on my PC, especially windows if I was worried about software crashing.

I've had it for a few days, it works fine, no lockups. Its better than the reg. russian hack.
It's the same thing expect it adds WB and Raw,etc to all the other modes. Raw in sports mode is nice.

I wouldnt risk it.

I would consider it a minimum risk. There is no way the firmware update can corrupt the boot data. It works very similiar to your pc. The risk would be a prom failure during the update. Very slim, but your right, if your not comfortable with the risk, you should stay with the original firmware.

The FEC and AF-mode in creative modes does not seem to be triggered at all.
Could it be due to the fact that the firmware was installed over the Russian version.
Other than that, it provides Raw all creative modes.
The parameter select / menu / or image replay was already available in the Russian version but not during the creative modes.
No hang-up has been detected so far.

Qote" The FEC and AF-mode in creative modes does not seem to be triggered at all.

No that is untrue. This FW is not on top of wasia FW, but it is an extension if it. The UnDutchables fully understand Wasia's code and have adapted it where needed. These changes where deleberately programmed out, no need for it as they where not working in Basic mode, it was only confusing.
I'm using it and loving RAW in sportsmode. Same with the ability to use the SET button (CF-1).
Changing from RAW to PEG should not be done via the menu, as is mentioned in the relase notes. If you are so foolish to try it the camare will hang and you need to turn it off. Switch to Creative Mode and there is no problem withy the Menu. Much better is to use the CF1+Set button, like me, always shoot RAW. There is no danger of permanently crashing the camera. No need to pass this release for this minor inconviniance.

Glad it's working for you. I've had about a hundred hits on the download, and this is the only place I posted the link. I think after more people see positive feedback about it, they will trust it.

Can someone please post a link to the undutchables firmware.
Also, I just joined and wonder if it's possible to receive email notification of replies; if so, how do I select that option?
Thanks!

You do have an original Digital Rebel/300D? The firmware hack only works on that single model, not on any of the later Digital Rebels like the XT/350D, XTi/400D, XSi/450D, XS/1000D, or T1i/500D.

Thanks. Looks like I was already subscribed to the thread; good to know how to access the option, thanks.
My father has an original Digital Rebel/300D and asked me to find out about the firmware hack.

Can someone tell me why this is a cool feature? I just don't understand why anyone would be using the basic modes when you have Av and Tv modes. Please explain. I never tried those modes when I had a Rebel.

It also enables the Custom Functions that the original DR lacked, and most of the other features that the 10D had that were enabled in firmware.
Currently found here (http://www.digitalrebel.nl/firmware.html). I make no representations as to the quality or safety of the download. That's just where Google said it was.
