View Full Version : Anyone have concert pics using the sigma 30/1.4?

Hello! I'm debating purchasing the sigma 30mm 1.4 lens for concert photography. I would love it if people who use this lens could post some sample concert pics, particularly at 1.4. I looked through the lens archive, but couldn't really find specifically concert pictures.

Also, can anyone comment on the AF speed / accuracy of this lens? Or do these aspects vary a lot as I find with most third party lenses?

EDIT: if a mod sees this, change the title to add the focal length (30mm), thanks!

Um......what focal length?

1.4 only describes the largest aperture. You need to specify the focal length also to get any opinions. Sigma makes more than one lens that has a 1.4 aperture.

Hah, I'm sorry! I completely forgot to include that! While I believe sigma makes only one 1.4 aperture lens, I meant the sigma 30mm 1.4.

They make a 50 1.4 also. Could also have been the 1.4TC if you really wanted to stretch it! haha.

theres the lens sample archive for this lens. From what i read, seems like people enjoy it. At 1.4, low light will be difficult with any lens unless you know what you are doing. You get VERY LITTLE leeway in your focus (if its not dead on then don't even bother pressing the shutter). This lens does have HSM, so coupled with a body that has a reputation for good low light focusing, I think you will be pleased with this lens (especially for only 385 bucks).

Good luck. Show some images if you get it.

I loved my 30mm f/1.4 when I had a 30D. I miss it now that I've gone full-frame, I have to say. The Canon 50mm f/1.4 is also good but...
