580 EXII Not firing

I was just playing around with my flash and testing it out etc, when all of a sudden it stopped working, so i looked at the manual and read about having to let the flash rest for 15 minutes because of overheating. So i thought that was the problem, it seems not. The flash still isnt working, the batteries i have just recharged and put in today.

Can anyone help please?

Try another set of freshly charged batteries.

Give it an hour to rest, somewhere cool. If it turns on and the red test button lights up the batteries are fine. If you push it (reasonably hard) and it doesn't fire you've burned out the tube. Canon can replace it.

its working now. thankfully. I didn't think I was firing the flash that much I guess it doesn't take too much then
