Ixus 700

Hi, everyone. I've lurked here for ages but now a question..

I'm looking for a replacement for my venerable Ixus V. Was thinking of an Ixus 500 as an ideal replacement on the grounds it uses the same batteries and CF memory.. Now the Ixus 700 is here and looks at some levels a better package. Sadly it uses SD memory cards. These are not a open spec so I expect I'll have trouble with them and Linux. MMC cards are similar, but open. Does anyone know if the Canon cameras that use SD cards can also use MMC cards?

hold on... i am pretty sure the manual says that some mmc cards may work. i would research further to find out more info.
