From the same viewpoint as http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=587642
I thought I'd try a long exposure (30 sec f11 ISO100) of the North Shields to Oslo ferry... came out quite well I think?

I think it's come off quite nicely! I find the bright horizontal lines a bit distracting though...

That was the deck lighting on the ship... it was the whole reason I took the shot.... a bit of a change from cars' brake lights at long exposure. I notice every time I take a long night time exposure that colours come out beautifuly.

Very effective, if that was taken with a telephoto from your place i have a photo of your house as i am down there often, I only live 5 mins away.

To be honest I think this would have been nicer just a photo of the harbour without the ferry. As Jim said, the horizontal light trails are distracting, but otherwise the colours and the smooth water with the boats and all is lovely.

Yeah - I live in the 3-storey town houses with the balconies. I've lived here since they were built 10 years ago.... great views and very peaceful - but I've seen my horizon change almost daily with development. It was taken with my EF50 1.4.... no need for a long reach lens... we are right on the marina edge as you'll know.
