I recently bought a Canon S30 camera, and was out figuring out the features of the camera. My 3 year old son was as excited as I was. He took one of the first photo which I have posted here: http://www.pbase.com/image/6067981
I would appreciate any comments / suggestions on this pictures. Thanks.

Hi Grisly,
Here's a solicited opinion...
You've got a classic bird and mucky bird in one picture. Clone out Mr. Mucky and you increase the focus and tranquility of the scene.
Your bird is also slightly oversharpened. What I would suggest is to mask the shoreline and reeds and sharpen those separately, then use the Sharpen Tool at a low opacity to hand-sharpen the bird.
I didn't go to any great trouble here but this will give you an idea of the one-bird approach.

Lovely photo... and the operative word is always "opinion," as in "one man's."
Cheers,

Wow, Don. That was some quick editing there that you did. How did you get 'my Mucky' bird off the picture?
I appreciate your views. As I am new to this, and photo editing some of the ideas you presented will need to be researched by me. (May be I will ask my son to do!!).
Cheers!

In Photoshop, you use the Rubber Stamp Tool. You're right, photo enhancement will take a little research. Here's hoping you son can help.

Hi Guys
Thanks for your feedback. Would you be able to recommend to me a beginner's book or website for Digital Photography and Photoshop? Would appreciate your pointers.
