I just got back from Fort Myers where i did a 6 hour shoot (my first serious gig). I shot a band in several settings both outdoors and indoors. had alot of fun doing it and am very pleased with the results. I will post samples very soon.

My quesiton is where can i get samples of legal forms to draw up a usage contract for my client? they also happen to be friends of mine but i am still going to do this the right way. i will be sending off a cd of the images to the copyright office tomorrow am. i told them that i would grant them full usage. but i know that can be subjective.

what should i include in the contract? should i write in some sort of royalty clause just in case these guys get big (which is possible, they have a high conversion rate at any show they play).

admitedly i did not think this through as well as i perhaps should have due to the fact they are friends . . but i would like to have a contract ready before i deliver the images.

I'm starting to do something similar to this in San Diego. I'd be very interested to see the responses to your questions, as they're similar to my own...

There is a book - "Photography - Focus On Profit" by Tom Zimberoff - that includes a CD with the PhotoByte software and it goes in depth with the software. Once set up, it will custom print all the needed forms and pricing information for you. I have just gotten the book/CD but have not been able to get the time to go through it yet. The software is offered for free (now) but I really recommend the book to help with the data work flow.

Best bet is to join your local chapter of ASMP. Everything you ever need as a pro comes with the book and they will back you up if you need it.....don

What is ASMP, and is there a chapter in most major cities? I'm just outside San Diego...
