Hey guys: I'm new at this but I was told that shooting in the AV mode would be better than macro mode. Would I start by setting Fstop at 16 or 22. I have a 100mm lens and Canon 40D. I do alot of shooting coins work.
Any help would be great.

use M
iso100
f/11
shutter speed 200
full flash(diffused)
a macro ring flash would be perfect for this

EARTHWORKS,
I agree with macro junkie, Setting your camera in Manual and select an f/stop of f/11 with a shutter speed of 1/250th (40D can sync with flash at 1/250th or slower) with flash is a great start for macro coin photos.
Flash isn't truly needed and you can use many different types of lighting, but a tripod is. :)
What type of coin photos are you planning to do? Just coins on a flat surface or more of a 3D view of them?
