not trying to get anyone in trouble, including me, but my wife is curious too how many of you that shoot from bikini to full nude and everything in between have complete support from your spouse? Do they assist in any facet of the shoot, from assistant to editor?

Not only does mine support me but she is trying to push me to do more.

Mine doesn't recruit talent but she is fine with the work. Duh. Work is the operative word. If you plan to work, there's not much difference from the office to the studio.
My wife doesn't really participate but she will tell me when something sucks.
What is her concern?

Mine finally allowed me then hit the roof. 6 mths went buy allowed me again and then I decided to stop. Wife was VERY happy when I did
So in 1 yr 45 model shoots. Total made $440. I think the lack of money was why it came to an end and she was unhappy. A lot of work for very little return.
Mine was not nude. Lingerie at most.

My wife has actually found a few friends of hers to model for me. She supports me and helps when needed/asked. She has zero issues with me shooting others (or her) in any state of dress/un-dress

I'd rather not get into it here; suffice it to say this type of shooting and support of it might all boil down to security and self esteem. We post the stick skinny models most of the time, and anyone that doesn't fit the mold might be reluctant to have the slap-in-the-face models in the house. My latest posts with Brandie mean I'm just as guilty, but it seems the only way to get feedback is to have the "typical" model. Freddy has great skills, but mine don't match his. I don't get near the responses he does. So I feel I have to find models that get close to his examples in order for people to pay attention.
It's a catch-22 all the way around; Note I did say most post the skinnier models; I give Woodster all kinds of props for posting his wife (latest developments not withstanding).

My wife has been supportive of my model shoots for over 30 years. Can't ask for more than that from her.

My current GF knew that i was into studio photography when i met her and has been very supportive and i involve her in every way i can. She even traiend up as a pro make up artist so she can work alongside me with my photoshoots and she has a great rapport with the models i work with and i think this helps the models lots as i tend to work with new and up and coming models...

My wife has found some models for me as well I have shot most of her friends in Glamour, boudoir and nude shoots. Jealousy is very unhealthy and a terrible waste of time.

"She who must be obeyed" barely raises an eyebrow these days when I have a camera in my hand.
I did over hear her one day being asked wasn't she worried I'd run off with a model half my age, only to have my ego deflated by her reply of, "None of em could be that desperate" :o:o:o:o:o

My wife has no involvement with my shooting (this is my living). Makes no difference if it's a baby shoot, maternity shoot, senior shoot, or model shoot. As long as I keep doing something that pays the bills, she's happy.

Oops. I missed that it's a poll. None of the choices apply to me. She doesn't find any subjects for me. She's ambivalent toward it. It's no different to her than when I get hired to shoot a volleyball game (for example). It's just something I do at work.

She gave me hell when I started and still does a little. Her first words were "I see where this is going to lead". She started backing off when I explained that at most shoots it is ....
me
an assistant
the models (average around 2 per shoot)
the MUA
the body painter (sometimes)
the hair stylist
the wardrobe consultant (sometimes)
the models friend
the client (sometimes)
I'm still new at this since I just started shooting models March 2007 and then had to stop in June 2007 due to injury, but I'm starting up again now that I'm healing. I think professionalism helps a lot. I know it does with models, MUA, etc...
She still wonders why the shots are mainly sexy. And my honest answer is "pick up a fashion mag and look at the shots". My first client was a lingerie store so that didn't help with starting off shooting fashion. I don't do seniors or family portraits and never will except for friends.

Jeff, I hear ya. She'd prefer I pick up your slack, though and only shoot seniors and families.

No prob whotsoever with my wife.
She helps, when she can, does hair etc, and laughs about various body jewelery the model had that I missed.
I guess that she knows im totally professional during these shoots, and really its all about getting the shot, and producing good work than gawking on a naked girl leaning over my shoulder looking at a computer screen.
Its just not an issue at all.
My wife is far more sillier about it than i am, lol, amazes me sometimes!

My wife not only supports me but she has served as a model, a recruiter and regularly works as my makeup artist. She really is the best partner I ever could have hoped for!

My better half is the first person to look through anything I have shot, and is generally better than I am at pulling out the best photos

when i first met my wife, she was saucy and still is;-). 2 years later an entertainer i know wanted me to shoot her nude, nope. Now we're married and she realizes this is what I do for a living and she realizes to get better one must practice, she believes in what I do and that I'm good at it, more so than me most of the time. she critiques, tells me when they're good and bad. She's my stylist on commercial shoots with models, she usually chooses the clothing and accessories and most models become friends with her. She sometimes acquires the tfcd models for me. She doesn't mind if I am somewhere and ask a girl if shes interested because she knows I do it in a professional manner.
Like Jeff my wife realizes that it is totally professional and that instead of looking at an almost naked girl on the screen I am looking at shadows, colours, pixels, etc. I'm lucky that where I live there are few photographers that shoot pretty girls in a 'model' style. I have only been living here for just over a year and am now getting emails from mums regarding shooting daughters in a 'modeling shoot' for 21st birthday presents etc. I think there is an opportunity for it to grow here and I want to be the one name that comes up if someone wants it. It's business. :-)

Mine is less than thrilled with the whole concept. A little better since I started charging them, but was still less than elated when I took headshots of an old friend this weekend, though it had been 16 yrs. since I'd last seen her.
I refuse to give in to passive attitude, since I don't do anything that I'd not do if she were standing with me, and have even invited her several times. So, she deals with it, but would be much happier if I'd stick to old men...

My partner has been 110% supportive of my work. I mainly do fetish shoots and they can include topless and nude and every variation in between. She's happy for me to go to fet clubs and photograph events too. She's even donned some lovely outfits and gone with me to the clubs.

Not initially because this started out as a hobby but she's come around. Occasionally still ask why do they all have to be sexy shots. Did the same thing Jeff did. Showed her the magazines.
See this post (http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showpost.php?p=6829195&postcount=9)as I've answered this before. Follow those tips and she if she changes her mind.
I tell my buddies as they're always curious what happens in the studio I don't need to spend thousands of $ on equipment and studio rental to see a woman naked. I can do that for price of a beer at the local strip club.
This is business and treat it as such.

ROFL!! Are we married to the same woman! Mine too. I sense some insecurities with mine all the time......to many stupid statistics w/ men leaving wives for 1/2 their age women. I have not tried models yet. I am still building my photography base. Will do in about 5 years i think. Senior Portraits/Families is my starting point.

"Honey, I'm going to take nude photos of a 20 year-old."
"Gee Husband, can you focus with that thing sticking out of your @%&?"
Of course, she had the grand scheme of doing a nude male calender.....LMAO

So i did a shoot the other day with a really stunning girl and as usual my missus came along and did the makeup etc and assisted me with reflectors/lighting etc and i've spend the last couple of days doing retouching etc and getting the portfolio ready for the girl as its an xmas prezzie for her boyfriend.
The issue is that my GF thinks that i fancy this girl as i'm taking more time than usual on these photos(just learnt some new skin smoothing stuff from retouchpro) and is not giving me a bit of a hard time about it. I cant see any issue with anything and nothing has changed from any of the other shoots i have done so i'm hoping shes not starting to get jealous of the models i shoot?!

She's all game as long as the model (if she approached me) did so in a professional manner and acts in a professional manner. If the models seems too "flirtatious" or just looking for raunching photos or what not, she's a little apprehensive.
Sometimes, If the girl is really attractive she's a little stand offish, but she usually shoots with me and when the shooting starts she's into it more than me sometimes.
However, she does tell me I need to watch how I tell them how beautiful they are etc...that some may read into it and think there is some sorta thing brewing. Especially if I've worked or communicated with the model frequently.
I guess my simple short answer is she's behind me. Sometimes she interferes too much! lol. I have to ask her, "Would you like to grab the other camera?"
What probably helps too, is that I like to take pictures of her whenever she lets me. When she sees how beautiful SHE looks, she's all happy faces...
The last shoot I did (in G&N - Chelsea Brooke) the wife actually was the one encouraging me to shoot her.

Well, this is an even better reason for wives and girlfriends not to be worried. I have seen what most models look like. I have seen what most photographers look like.
Hmmmm.....reminds me of that thing on Sesame Street. One of these things is not like the others. One of these things just doesn't belong.......

Mine is a model, and is fully behind what I do; has actually encouraged me to expand into nude and lingerie which spawned from a bikini shoot I recently did. I just started this past couple weeks of getting in touch with a model that is willing pose, though, I don't really see the difference in it and regular portraiture. Where the light becomes the eyes and the shadow becomes the clothes.
I couldn't be with someone who didn't support something so close to me and my passion. It's important to have trust in a relationship, at least mine, if not that then acceptance of what I do.
Reading through this I found this kind of weird:
Mine finally allowed me then hit the roof. 6 mths went buy allowed me again and then I decided to stop. Wife was VERY happy when I did

I'm not quite an expert but how on earth did you only make 440?
:( That's heartbreaking, sorry to hear..

My guess is the shoots may have included a lot of TF sessions while you build a portfolio of work, and a comfort level. Many things become more apparent about a person's body when he/she shed the clothing they walked in wearing.
