What is a good lens to get for shooting people? A lot of mine will be involving cars as well but other shots as well.

The only lens I have had any recommendation to is the 85mm f/1.8 or f/1.4

are there any other lenses?

I currently have an 18-135mm and my stock 18-55mm lens.

All lenses are good for shooting people.
85mm on a full frame body provides natural perspective and comfortable working distances. On a crop body, it can be a little long, especially in the studio.

AFAIK there is no 85 f/1.4 - there is an 85 f/1.2L, but it probably costs a lot more than you want to pay. But, there's no good answer to your question without knowing what kind of people photography you plan on - head shots? Full length? Formal portraits? Candids? Street photography? Perhaps a zoom would be more to your liking?

I use my Canon 50mm f/1.4 to shoot people face. On my 350D, this is like 80mm, isn't this good enough for portrait?

Yes and no. If you can move around enough to utilize the 50mm, then go for it. But shooting even a small family can cause some issues on fitting them all into the frame. I find a semi-wide zoom helps in this area very well. Im planning on shooting my 24-60mm on my xti and my 50 1.8 on my film back up. (just for example)

If your subject doesn't mind distortions then look for image quality and something with range. I really like the 70-200mm f/2.8 for any subject who is self-conscious (mainly females) since the narrow-ness cuts down on the distortions and usually leads to a less-distracting backgrounds. I find males sort of like the distorted wide-angle look.
