First of all, wanted to thank everyone who contributes on the forum. As a long time lurker I've certainly learnt a lot of great things and seen some very inspirational work.

A friend of mine is a dancer and they are putting on a Halloween show at a club on the 31st. She recommended me to the director of the event and he loved my photos and now wants me to shoot. This is new territory to me, I've never really covered an event other then house parties and it was moderately lit.

I obviously have to rent some equipment to be able to pull this off. I currently have an XTI with a 50mm 1.8 as well as a 55-250. Obviously the 55-250 is too slow. I plan on renting a 16-35 2.8 for the event and I have also been able to borrow a 580ex II for a week to learn it so Im prepared for the event.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to what else I should rent or any tips on how to come out of the event with great images?

Thanks everyone!

It's more of a restaurant/lounge. http://www.wildginger.ca Thats the site for the venue. Apparently the lighting is going to be very minimal and dark to coincide with the Halloween atmosphere.

well, then, the 16-35 is a good choice, as is the flash.

I'd keep the 50 1.8 on hand in case you want to shoot the dancing without a flash (if you can, with the minimal light you mentioned).

I don't have much else for you. sorry.

Thanks London, I appreciate the help. It confirms I'm on the right track for rental suggestions :D
