First post! I'm relatively new to SLR photography.
I now have three lenses... my Rebel's kit lens, a 50mm and a 75-300mm zoom.
Is it possible to do macro style shots with what I've got? What are my best possible setups? I've got a speedlite and off-camera kit.

I use a 50mm 1.8 and extension tubes. I did not get the Kenco as they are too expensive for my budget. Got a set for about 80.00 and they work great. examples can be seen at

I am by no means a expert but, this has worked well so far.

Thanks, alann, I'll look into that technique. Nice shots!

You can also use your kit lens with a body reversing ring (with the correct filter size). Give a macro zoom lens capable of going from >1:1 to around 3:1. You do have to manually set the aperture though before reversing the lens.

I use a Pentax 50mm f/1.7 lens with a manual aperture ring on a set of £5 cheapo tubes from ebay. It looks like this: http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showpost.php?p=5209326&postcount=237
and gives me results like this: http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=591009
Very pleasing and very cheap! :D
