This is my first attempt at Strobist lighting on a car. This convertable belongs to a friend of mine, and asked me to shoot some pics for him before he sells it.
All C&C greatly appreciated.

Thanks Padrino, the setup is 430EX fired through umbrella camera left, full power, and a 580EX full power through an umbrella camera right. I had both flashes about 5 feet up on the stands. These were shot with:
Canon 50D
Tamron 17-50 2.8
7.1
1/50
iso 200

Excellent setup, it's amazing what "small" (at least compared with studio strobes) flash guns can do. Really good job, congrats!

great shots . I like 2nd a lot but imo it needs a bit more light in the front arch zone!

I like 2nd a lot It's pretty good for a strobe shot, but I'd have shot some in this light earlier before it was quite that dark out.

It wasn't THAT dark out. I just made it appear so. I was really after this contrasty look. So I used the strobes to bias my lighting away from the ambient and more towards my subject. I could have done a better job with placement of my lights though, or perhaps used a third strobe.

Second one is cool, color ROCKS ! I love bugs (got one too). You are indeed missing some light, and got some nasty highlights.
Next time use more ambient light and use two strobes to pop out the side, and a reflector for the front. Or try multiple exposures.
But the car and the color is awesome, with some effort you can make a very nice picture without much reflections (you use a CPL ??) that stands really off.

I love both shots, def. did a great job considering it was your first time. My first time using strobes didn't come out so great, nice work!
