Being the lazy sod that I am :D.... I couldn't be stuffed getting apache and mysql and php all working happily together before setting up EE. So I spent a bit of time on google, and found this

http://www.apachefriends.org/en/xampp.html

Its absolutely fantastic. EE worked first time... no problems at all. If you don't already have your server running the required software to support EE, this is definately a stress free way to do it.

And, the best part is that any newbie can do it, even if you don't know much about linux.

Pekka, the EE software is great. I'm really impressed with how polished it is. One question on the licensing... the license link in the admin interface says that its licensed for a 21 day eval, and to read the readme for further info. I couldn't find the readme, so is there an online version of what the licensing entails?

Thanks

A licence lets you run one EE install indefinitely, and all who licence now get all updates and support free. I'll get the licencing mess (too little and vague info) sorted out after next release... now the only place to pay for the licence is the link in http://photography-on-the.net/ee/download.php . Basically EE is "old fashioned no-nag shareware", has been since 1.3.

Thanks Pekka, I saw the download page, but I just wasn't sure if there was a suggested amount...
