Anyone use the manfrotto 322RC2 tripod head? I bought one a month ago and was wondering if anyone else has used this tripod head. Thanks.

I like it for light use....very quick to adjust. Totally worthless for larger, heavier lenses. Difficult to do fine (precision) adjustments with...I really use my 804RC2 more.

If you're going to be able to set the head and forget it, it's not bad. If you're going to need to move the head around much during a session, better get a set of grip strengtheners, because otherwise, you'll get really sore really fast. I'm more likely to use my 488RC2.

I'd take a normal ballhead over a grip style any day of the week.

I'd take a normal ballhead over a grip style any day of the week.Ditto.
I've tried both styles of Manfrotto grip style ball heads and wouldn't dream of buying either for the work I do.

A friend of mine has this head and he uses it on a monopod doing nature type stuff, but he recommended a more solid head if you need precision.

it worked great for me for a year until my camera got heavier! It holds my Gripped 30D with 10-22mm horizontal fine, but vertical... nope. I'm going to be selling it to get an 804RC2.
Anyone interested in it?

I don't know what you guys are talking about, I use it with my 40d and 100-400 all the time and it works great! Really prefer a traditional ball head, but this one is very fast.

I just got this head recently and haven't had a chance to put it to a test. Although I specifically got this grip to be used with some of my light and small lenses, I decided to place my heaviest lens, 100-400, on it with my 40D with the grip just to test its tolerance level. With the 100-400 zoomed all the way out, the grip head did pretty good vertically. However, in any other position, this grip head can't handle the weight even with the friction set at the highest.
As I stated above, I only got this grip head to be used with my small lenses, so I'm very happy with it for its convenience.

I use it with my 40D, primarily with the 100mm f/2.8 Macro, so not a heavy lens. It has worked very well for me for that setup.

Didn't have a problem using it with my 40D 70-200f2.8 IS USM . This was probably the max weight for that set up. I shot fireworks with it using live view to frame the shot. Very quick.
