I'm looking for an E-TTL II compatible yet as inexpensive as possible. First let me say that I would love a 580 ex, or even a 430, but for the amount of time I actually use/need a flash I just can't justify the cost. I shoot mostly outdoors, nature, landscape, wildlife and don't want to have a ton of money tied up in a flash that will spend 97% of it's time in my camera bag. I've seen a few 3rd party units in the $100-$150 range(I'd like to stay in the $100 area) that claim to be e-ttl compatible. So I'm looking for your expert opinions and recommendations, thanks.

Consider a good used 380ex, for about $100. Only downside is there is tilt but no swivel

Spring for a used 430 EX...you can find them for about 150 on the classified section of this site...

A 420ex isn't bad either... it's the replacement for the 380ex and has a swivel head.

Here's a good comparison:

There are 3rd-party flashes, but your best bet would be one of these Canons (380ex/420ex/430ex), as the 3rd-party ones can have compatibility and exposure issues.
