HDR that was made from 10 images (+/-2EV)
Looks like a cartoon and that is how it really looked like.
The HDR might be a little overdone by a glitch ;)

Very nice, I'm puzzled by the 10 pic number, if you took
-8 -6 -4 -2 0 +2 +4 +6 +8
Then it is 9 pics, please let me know what 10 exposures you took.
The dynamic range of the scene doesn't seem big enough for 10 pics, did you try to check how many were really needed to reduce noise and artifacting?
Having said that looks awesome, congrats!

He-he, This is a picture that covers approx. 240 degrees. Taken with my EFS 10-22mm in vertical. This image is stitched from 10 images x 3 since I used AEB at -2,0 and +2
Used the batch process in PM and CS3 to stitch the 10 images.

This image was taken this morning round 8:15-8:45, not sure of the time.
Since the sun disappear below the horizon from 20th of November until 20th of January, the sunrise is late and the sunset is early now.
The location is Tromso in the north of Norway. Way above the arctic circle.
If you click here (http://www.flickr.com/photos/articshooter/2969125753/) you sees the image at Flickr where you also find a map.

Thank you Mitch,
Took a while to stitch this all together. Also had to PM, theReal7 for some advise.
And I couldn't save in JPEG!
Got error all the time.
So I had to use the macbook to finish it

Don't know what that blur is in the middle must be some PP issues

Now that I see what you used CS3 is usually sub-optimal for blending exposures in panoramas. You can try with PTGui or if you want to do it for free Hugin. Both PtGUI and Hugin are in my honest opinion far better than CS3 stitching panoramas.

The thing is that I didn't take this because of the northern lights.
But I grew up below the highest mountain, to the left of it. The light came as a bonus :)
But I was out shooting the northern lights earlier that evening and thought I wanted to try a panorama.
This image have been treated with neat image since my 350D had a lot of noise at ISO 400.
If I had done this same shoot with the 40D, it wouldn't have needed any treatment. Can just imagine how well the 50D and 5DMkII will do.

I know, I had my new 50D all planned out, then my truck died and I had to buy something else to drive. But I am saving again for one. From what I have seen, it's everything an action shooter could want, except maybe the frame rate could be a bit higher. But that 15mp sensor sure makes some smooth images.
I would think though, that prints of panos with the lights would be a seller. :)

I think that's an omen telling you to get the 5DmkII instead ;)
Panos of the northern lights is so difficult since it keeps moving all the time. So I just rely on my 10-20mm.
Excellent shots AC!!!!
Thank you.
