Nifty 50

I just received my 50mm f/1.8 II from B & H on Thursday and I absolutely love this lense. I took it to work with me to shoot some of our basketball and dodgeball leagues. I had a little bit of trouble getting nice action shots, but here are some of the better ones. Let me know what you think.

what kinds of troubles are you having? are you using the 'sports' setting? if so, the iso may be a bit slow for the lighting. you might try manually setting a higher iso, although you will lose ai-servo. if you like the 50 1.8, you might rent/try the 85 1.8...


your shots are great. now i can't wait until the day when sportsshooter.com features a dodgeball photog!

I am shooting in Manual mode because I cannot get a fast enough shutter speed is sports mode. Unfortunately with the 50mm it is hard to force the camera into AI-Servo because of the small focus ring. The images are coming out a little too blury for my preferances. I know this lense tends to be a little soft wide open, but this is not my issue.
