I have been REALLY wanting a fisheye solution for my 20D but.... any way, I don't wnat to rant, I like the 10-22mm ef-s but I really like the fish effect

I was looking at this lens too. You can get one off ebay for about $180-185, new, from kievcamera. I bought my 16mm Zenitar fisheye from there and am pretty happy with it, other than I find it kind of hard to manually focus because it's so wide and everything is so small. Manual aperture is kind of interesting too. I never had another lens like this one.

The 8mm is a circular fisheye like the Sigma 8mm (180 degrees in all directions), but with the 1.6x sensor it's cropped, mostly on the top and bottom since it projects roughly a 24mm circle which is only slightly larger than the 20D sensor horizontally.

Here's a picture from Kiev camera's site which was not cropped in software, only by the 1.6 sensor:

That is a sweet shot...but i don't think i could manual focus while skydiving... :) I need to look into these, myself.

when i was buying my zenitar, they had the peleng and i played around with it. stopped down and focused to infinity, it's almost like a point and shoot - no need to focus. it was a bit too extreme for me (overkill for anything more than occasional) so i bought the zenitar. the build quality was nice and for what i could tell, the optics weren't bad.

I just love the Peleng lens. Here are a few examples taken with this lens and a 10D.

JUSSUFF..

Are you cropping these, or does the lens actually cover the 1.6 frame T.I.A.

he's got to be cropping, the peleng is a full frame lens

In general you have to crop the shot when the dark parts on the left and right should be not visible. The only untouched one of the here shown captures (beside the rezising for the web) is the first photo "Eiffel Tower". The others are slightly debarrelized with Photoshop to remove the dark parts at the left and the right edges of the photo.

Thank you!! I saw this on the 8mm as well. It looks like the magical focal length on the 1.6 is a 10mm any more and you loose 180deg any less and you loose a full frame image. I think I might get the 10-22mm and wait to trade it in when canon makes a 10mm >f2< fish <><
