Cute kids! Very good colors, too.

The only thing I can see is that there are some extremely hot spots on both photos. I'm not sure if the hot spots are where the lights were pointing, or if the picture is just exposed a little high. If you shoot RAW, these minor hot spots should be fairly easy to correct.

New lights are such fun toys... keep shooting and keep posting! :)

I like the shots -- love the first one, but you always need to remember to clean up the background.

I don't know...it looks great to me. They are a tad overexposed but you might like your shots a little on the bright side. Nothing wrong with that. Keep on shooting..

And the girls looked like they were having fun!

I don't think the background is dirty (nothing to clean up) however it does appear to be reflecting the purple in the hat. Look to the left and you might see what I mean by reflecting the purple. It might help to have the girls sit further away from the background to prevent this from happening again.

...there appears to be a strange "texture" blended into the "shaded" areas behind the subjects (more noticeable in photo #2)

If you view the images on an LCD screen (I am using my laptop at the moment), lift the keyboard, which has the effect of darkening the image - you will see clearly what I am talking about.

I happen to like light backgrounds - and really like these.
