I just thought I would share a few pictures I took of a sunday evening pick-up hockey game.
All pictures are shot raw, iso1600, 135mm, f2.2, 1/640s

Same here. Maybe one day I'll figure out how to get my indoor sports shots to look that good.

Superb, sharp pics as always - your work is consistently top notch! My only question is why did you stop the lens down to f/2.2?

Thanks guys. You are too kind. :o
Although the pictures are fairly sharp, etc, I really have to improve on the content.
It's actually fairly hard to get exciting pictures using a prime, and shooting thru plexi-glass. But, I know it can be done, because alot of pros do it that way. I could probably use a wider lens, but I like having a tight crop with more blur behind the subjects.
As far as shooting at F2.2.... earlier I had been using the 50F1.8II for some shots, and that lens becomes very sharp at F2.2, so that is an aperture I use alot.
When I started shooting with the 135F2L, I forgot to change back to F2. :o

I'd leave it at 2.2, these are amazing. I've been waiting to see if you could repeat the Canadian Juniors type quality in another arena and wow, you nailed it. Have you ever used a 70-200 2.8? I'm wondering if that lens would give the best of both worlds, zoom and low aperture.... again amazing quality.

Thanks fills. :)
These pictures were in an amateur arena where the lighting was much dimmer than the JR pictures which were in a pro arena with the lighting that is about twice as bright.
One downfall with this amateur arena is that there is mesh above the glass around the entire arena. That makes shooting much more difficult as you have to stay low, and shoot thru the dirty plexiglass.
Here is one more of defenceman Robert DeNiro ;).
