is it just me or is the flap for the batterys a extremely poor design, it feels like its going to brake off each time i open it

but when i change my batteries its usually quite dark and i cant see WTF i am doing

Most Canon flash guns are like that. You get used to it.

im just used to the nikon speed lites, there a much better desighn

yeh, i have just got my 580 and had trouble getting the flap open! i though it was broken at first, i might take it back to the shop and see what they think of it.. to say i spent over £300 on it, i would of expected a bit more better quilty

Seems to get better over time. It's supposed to feel like that: It 'clicks in' in the open position. Does feel extremely cheap though....

My 380EX was like that. My 420EX is like that, and my 550EX is like that - cheap-feeling battery door. But they all work well, and I haven't broken one yet.
