I was just there in June for the second time. Some day I'll likely return, it's a wonderful place to visit, economical and the people are great as well.
BTW looks like a spot on your sensor in the upper left corner.

Ill be going there next week, but am sort of worried about bringing all my good equipment. I have it all insured (with a 500 deduct.), but still. Any advice on this? Not sure if ill bring my 300D, 40D, or both (and pull out whichever one I feel comfortable exposing to possible theft, for whatever situation I'm in)

You'll love it. My advice to you is to go walk around on your own when you have the time. It's very safe, the people are friendly and most speak English quite well. Exploring a little on your own is the best part of Egypt IMO.

Going to Egypt with the girlfriend this Easter for a week. We're planning on going both to Cairo and Luxor. Hopefully I'll come back with some nice photos to show you guys. Just scared because there seem to be a lot of accidents with long distance buses :(

Don't worry so much. I had a great time when I was there this past November. The buses travel in caravans and you have an armed security guard with you. As long as you stick with some tour group you should be fine.

I guess that's the problem. We had planned on going with local buses. Personally I'm not a big fan of tours, I prefer to arrange things myself. Perhaps it's possible to travel with a tour bus without actually participating in the tour?

Couldn't tell you. Our trip was just a package from a travel agency.
