I have been trying for weeks to get a shot of the blue tit in the wild. They are so quick it is unbelievable.
Today my efforts paid off and a got a shot where the bird is a) in the frame b) in focus and c) looking the right way. Considering these birds are about 8cm tall, Result.

Richard, great capture. I know what you mean about blue tits - they are busy little birds aren't they? I think they must have a slurp of expresso before they leave the nest each morning.
I've never tried getting a pic of them as my G3 isn't up to it. But I do get many in the garden and find that feeding them bird cake or suet slows them down - they seem to take their time over that more.
This morning I saw a chaffinch in the garden that seemed to be in trouble. I wasn't moving. I went out to see if it was OK and it flew off, but where it had been sat there was a round mark where the snow had melted. It must have been there a long time. I put some water out and hope the weather doesn't do for it.

That is a real nice photo. It sort of reminds me of our little Black Capped Chicadee.
Thanks for sharing.

Very,very nice.
The shallow depth of field has thrown the background out beautifully.

Richard...
That's perfect! Name associations notwithstanding, that is a very pretty little bird.

Congratulations! This is an excellent photograph.
I'm a little mystified though, I don't see any blue on it at all!

Thanks everyone, I appriciate the comments
and note how I resisted the tit comments...just!
I think I like that location, I have returned there today and hopefully I have some more shots. I'll post them once I have looked through them.
eastcoast909, I think you have seen another shot of the blue tit, but the cao on its head is actually blue, although in the winter it always seems that bit darker.
dewmuw, I'm still trying to attract them to my garden, but first I think I need more cover for them. Maybe next year! This was out on one of my favourite walks.
Thanks again

Richard, you are right they do like cover. They rarely fly across open ground and only approach feeders where they feel safe (ie somewhere to dive away).
