Is anyone out there in the US doing any Mast Photography? I am looking for some input on a potential investment.

I am not interested in aerial (blimps, helos, etc.)

Any advice would be much appreciated.

This thread (http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=517491&highlight=40D+big+stick) springs to mind. I remember seeing a different one that was in the US, but cannot find it now. That should be good for some info, however.

I did some research into mast photography a couple of years ago, from what I remember you would have approx $1,500 into a very basic 30-40' setup, 3-7K into a tripod/guying rig, and 15-20k into a vehicle mounted mast.

I think for a business sake, somewhere in the middle in terms of investment would be wise. The biggest market I can think of would be golf course photography, and they will not allow a car to be driven into the course. So either a tripod setup or a guying setup would be the best.

Besides, from what I've seen most shots can be accomplished within a 100' shooting height.
