This game is to help those of us who are trying to learn new tricks when it comes to editing.
Here's the breakdown of the game. I will post a picture that I choose, resized to exactly 1024 pixels maximum on the long side. Outside of being resized it has to be unedited...meaning no adjustments to any levels, it has to look like it did as it came out of the camera.
The game will last 48hrs and whoever can produce the best edited image (as judged by me) will be picked and it'll be their turn to post their unedited picture for all of us to take a crack at.
The participants must have their "Image Editing OK" turned on and they must provide at least a simple breakdown of how they edited the image, some entrants are a little vague on this point, please give us all details so we can learn and share tips. For instance if you use the unsharp mask tool or Smart Sharpen, provide us with the adjustments you used so others can try them out.
You can post multiple images, but the first image you post will be the one that is judged - all other images will be considered for knowledge and tip use only.
Also, please keep all comments, be they positive or negative, to yourself until after the game has ended.
If you happen to be the winner of the game please start the next one with the title of the game and the following number. For example…the next game should read "Before and After #124".
This is all about having fun so have at it!!!
Any edit, over-the-top creative or subtle, is encouraged!
This game will end on Tuesday, October 28th at 2:00 pm (EST)
I got the exposure on this one all kinds of wrong. And she just turned seven - so pretty much all of her teeth are either missing or loose . Let's see what you guys can do with it.

started with using an action I found here (post #60) that someone made of cheetapita's b&w conversion.
http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=404206&page=2
then I duplicated layer
selected girl, refined edge, added mask and drop shadow
on background layer added gaussian blur of about 4.5
vignette
merge
added lighting effects filter - light type of omni at intesity of 25
added simple small lined border
almost forgot - flipped horizontal just because I like to be different :) haha

sorry forgot (blush)
I made the saturation higher.
Cropped it.
Made a copy of the layer and set the layer options to soft light.
used the burn tool on the back ground and what the girl is sitting on
Dodged the girl's hair both midtones and highlights :)

ok i saw this and had to have a go!
so her teeth i think maybe could be fixed,
zoomed in 1600% and used the polygon lasso tool and copied one of her teeth, duplicated that until i had a full set, used the free transfrom function to put them straight amd then used the smudge tool to blend them into her gums.
Next fixed the color cast on the shot and increased the midtones using curves.
The girl was a bit blue so i selected her face, and arms using quick mask mode and then went to selective color, reduced the blue by -10 and increased the red by 10.
Finally selected the girl with quick mask mode and increased the contrast and then the back ground by increasing the contrast there too
oh and i sharpened the image using 85, 1, 4 in unshapren mask

Now she could sells some clothes for JCPenny :-)
created adjustment layer (PSE6)
Applied OpikVervelabs ambience @80%
Painted girl back in and brought back lost detail in shadows (ambience was used for background only)
Separated girl from background w\magic extractor and blurred background
Applied ReDynamiz to add a little detail and haze cleanup, very subtle.
Brightened her eyes and face just a little w\dodge.
Ran through highpass filter at about 20%, very subtle.
Used Burn tool for shadows on her hair and boots, brought out a little.
Added frame and blurred outer area more.
Added text.

Well I've just joined the site (great and active site! :) )
Here is my take on the photo
I've cropped & sharpened the image, increased the contrast, added a vignette and of course made the image into sepia.
Great fun!

1. Borrowed pursed lips from your "mini-me" photo from B&F # 65
2. Levels adjustment to brighten face slightly
3. Adjusted saturation of red to correct skin tone
4. Slight skin smoothing w/ GB @ 2 pixels @ 33% opacity
5. Slight sharpening of eyes and lips w/ USM @ 100,1,1 with layer mask & 50% reveal
6. Softened hair slightly w/ GB & layer mask
7. Change color of BG by adjusting green hue & shifting to red to give image an autumn feel
8. Recrop & add quick border using colors to match image features

I think I'm going to bounce this one back to DonJuanMair. I have to admit - the teeth freak me out a little bit, but the color on your edit looks great.
Silver, I love the tone you gave to the background. I think I'm going to try that when I edit.
Kissa, you did a good job brightening up her face without going too far. A little too much contrast, though, I think.
Kim, I like the artsy, soft feel you gave to the picture. It tones down the harsh sunlight very well.
French, cute idea! She does look like she's striking a catalog pose.
Ellee, the tone you gave the photo is very nice. For some reason, though, it really brought the bright flowers at the top to my attention.
Thanks everyone for giving this one a try!
Next one's yours, DonJuanMair!
