My parents are getting mom a new computer and a colour printer. They were going to get an HP printer but then the salesperson offered a Canon Pixma 300 (think that was the one) for the same price. I told dad to go with the Canon.
So, I'm a bit curious if anyone has this printer and what the quality of the prints are. It's mainly going to be for casual photos and stuff. If I want to print something for a more "serious" occasion, I usually go to the local lab.

You mean Canon Pixma iP3000 , the iP3000 is fine if you mainly want to do text and everyday stuff, but if you are planning for pictures go one up to the iP4000 as it has the photo black ( BCI-6Blk ) also rather than just the BCI-3Blk which is meant for text, difference will be, the iP3000 wont come out as boldy/vividly, nor will the colors last ( the black at least ) over time using the BCI-3 ink. The BCI-3Bk meant for text only, so if you plan on doing pictures go up another 50 to the iP4000.

Oops, yeah I peant the Pixma 3000. Well, it's mainly for everyday stuff. Not that much for photos, but of course I'll print out some pics occasionally. Was just curious if anyone had any experience with this printer. As it's my parents who will have the printer I don't want them to spend too much on something they won't need. When I get my own place I'll probably buy my own printer.
