Well, I had an interesting trip this past weekend. It was a great trip with the exception of getting to my destination and having my 300D not power up anymore (it has to go in for service, now).

I met a woman there that happened to have an older camera...

she ended up giving it to me for free, saving me about 30 dollars since thats what these particular cameras tend to go for.

Its a Yashica Electro 35 GSN... supposed to be a decent rangefinder.

Anyone else have any experience with it?

Anyone else ever have something like this happen?

Sorry for the semi-crappy photos... took them with an A75 facing a bright window in a dark room (duh).

No experience with it, but I have been thinking I wanted to try a rangefinder out...so I would be curious to hear what anyone has to say about it.

I've taken one roll with it so far - I'll let you know how the pictures look, and if I can get my scanner hooked up today, I'll post some photos :)

My dad had one of those camera years ago but im not sure what ever happened to it. Now I need to find it because i think he still had the manual for it. Also depending on whos doing the developing you might get a disk with your pictures

Doesn't the Yashica have the same mount as a Zeis model? Or is it Leica?

It would be Contax/Zeis. I was SOOO close to picking up an Mamiya 6 two days ago. Boy I haven't held a rangefinder for a long time....

that lens is actually not removable... there are some attachments and it will take whatever 52mm thread in filters I can find. I've heard that Contax/Zies helped with the lens development, but who knows.

I am going to keep this until I can find an FD Mount Body for under 100 dollars (I have two decent FD Lenses) or a cheap used EOS kit/set (like an older EOS3 or Elan7).

I just did a quick 1hr photo job at the local Rite Aid (they did a decent job, too, and even used nice, heavy paper) so I didnt opt for the "on cd" thing. The photos came out good - the metering is very good even in low-light situations (like most of these). If I get my scanner set up soon I'll post some of the better ones (this was just a test roll, so there is no real interesting subject).
