S45 Focusing

This will probably apply to users of the S30 and S40 aswell. I have taken pictures using the S45 and am a bit disappointed with some of the results. They appear to be ok when viewed on the LCD but when I download them onto the PC, they are not as sharp as I expect them to be especially for indoor shots with the flash. I am using the "auto" setting with "Large resoultion" and "fine compression". Has anyone else experienced this and is there another setting that I should be using. Any suggestions for achieving sharper images like you would get on a 35mm camera?
