are you talking about actually putting a graphic or text image onto a photo or more advanced means of encrypting photos w/ a true digital watermark that is traceable?

Mike- that was my idea. Since posting I found the ideal software. It is called Watermarker. They have a good site that explains the ins and outs of watermarking.
Inexpensive and although nothing is foolproof - this should slow down cheaters out there.

Photoshop works fine for this. It can do pretty much anything to do with photos, but it's not the easiest piece of software to use.

There are many threads on here that cover this with plenty of links and if you do an internet search for tutorials on how to build your own you will get something that should work for you. I use photoshop building it in an action with paths for the most precise edges. I've looked at some of the stand alone and plug in packages and I still keep coming back to photoshop. In the end only you know exactly what you really want/need so I would look through the links here and elsewhere. Many of them offer trial periods so that you can actually test them out for your suitability.
