POTN G-Series Speed Challenge #3 - The Passage of Time

The entry that best illustrates this theme will win, with composition and technical excellence being secondary.

Preferably, the image should tell the story so, but the photographer may add a brief comment or some EXIF info if he/she feels it neccessary or desirable.

I hope I have the rules right - most are copied from previous challenges.

Please read the rules and avoid odd sizes, borders, more than one photo, etc.

To submit, click Post Reply and put your Photo Name in the Subject Line. Don't forget your Camera Model.

Posting closes at SUNDAY MIDNIGHT GMT, 27 FEBRUARY 2005.

Winner will be announced by MONDAY MIDNIGHT, 28 FEBRUARY 2005.

Wish I could enter this one myself - have fun!

I hope this is on topic. 8-) I thought it illustrated the passage of time between day and night. It was taken with a Canon G3 with the long shadows before nightfall.

NOTE RE RULES!

Don Ellis has just told me that the rules should allow for photographers to make comments or include EXIF details along with their photos. Personally I would rather the photos stand on their own merits until after the judging, but no big deal so I have amended the rules as requested.

By the way, on looking back on this forum I can't find what "POTN" means - can someone please enlighten me?

Canon G5. Entrance to Bruisyard church.
I used Adobe Photoshop to reduce the pixel count but the posted picture is rather blurry compared with the original which is very sharp. How can I improve this?

You should ask this question in another forum - this is a contest!

I purchased this watch in Hong Kong on my first visit in 1967. Returning to live in 1985, I found that copy watches were being sold on every street corner.

For this photograph, I set the shutter speed to one second and, as you can see here, the second hand trips five times for every second. Several years ago, that was a good way to tell the difference between the genuine article and the fakes -- fakes used a digital movement that clacked over once per second.

Of course, the counterfeiters keep getting better and that's not always true now.

just saw this post for the first time today

the shot shown here was taken with the G2
high up on an old wall of a old public house in an even older country town
the sign was there

lately when I look up ,when visiting the same town
I noticed that this sign has gone forever.
instead of it ... there is a large modern clock

no jokes about it though
and time certainly moved on in this case

http://www.photography-on-the.net/forum/images/smilies/icon_confused.gif
it's not as though this clock was broken.. or anything like it

http://www.photography-on-the.net/forum/images/smilies/icon_lol.gif
time is running out

if anything I done or said here is against the rules
(or the photo size is wrong)
that's ok
just let me know.
no worries whatsoever

lovely and very clever pictures everyone
