Hey all...I just sold my 20D and the 1D is on the way to me also. When I get it be sure to pass those tips to me too. Can't wait for it to get here. I loved the 20D but, I thought if I sold it now and got the 1D and in a few months or year the price will be down where I can buy it again someday. But, just wanted to see what the 1D can do.

Be sure and check the EOS Sticky,. there is a link to a thread wich lists all the best settings and custom fuctions for the 1D,. I belive it is specifically talking about the MkII but most of the settings are the same on the tow bodies and should be of help to a new 1D owner ;)
Congrats on an awesome camera :)

I've heard people say before that it sounds like a machine gun going off... does anyone happen to have an mp3 or something of the 1D shooting off pictures? I know DPreview has one for the 20D, but I didn't see one for the 1D.

While I think I understand the advantages the 1d Mark II has over the 20d, I feel I'd be better off getting the 1ds Mark II. I very rarely use continuous shooting on the 20d now, so 4 fps would be more than enough on the 1ds. I really want no crop factor, and I feel the 16 mp sensor is a huge step up, while the 1d seems to be a lateral move when it comes to picture quality.

Persian-Rice - I am debt-free. All my gear is paid for. If I bought a second 1D MkII, then I would go into debt. I pay my car off in July as well, meaning other than my house payment, I owe no one money... Oh what a feeling...

Also Can I clean the CCD sensor the same way as a CMOS sensor? (I.E with pads and the correct fluid?) because this one is really dirty!!!!!!

No good for discreet candids, either--my only plaint about my MK2. I stand out like a
bagel in a bowl of grits with that thing.
