Eremophila alpestris . . . or Horned Lark. My luck with medium sized birds goes on, this fine young fellow sat on a sign post for me to click off a few rounds. A bit smaller than the Meadow Lark, they are nonetheless a pretty open country bird. I love the yellow and the 'horns' which seem to 'twitch' up and down as he sings.

RJ is an educated man. I would have called this bird a "Justachubbybirdwithayellowface":):):):)
You sure have an abundance of subjects around Tin Hat!

Nice, RJ!! You sure are busy ... at least someone is out taking photos. How's the weather been in your parts? (I don't see any snow in your recent shots.)

Well Jessica . . . I tried my hand at taking photos of "Little Birds" once and I was, as I still am, wet behind the ears here on POTN. I saw some lovely work and thought "hey I can do that." Well I bundled up and went out in twenty degree weather and sat up camp in the trees where a bird 'might' land. I did not know the tricks of the trade and such. Anyway I froze my mustache a solid white, before a bird sat where I could get a shot. Well I took what nature gave me . . . the 'back' side of the bird. I worked so hard to get it . . . that I was posting it regardless. I had to ask the name of the bird as well, to add injury to insult. Well the 'Bird Men' came to my rescue and now every once in a while I snag a ok shot of a "Little Bird" that I can post and name. From the correct orientation.
This place does wonders for your taxidermy skills as well as photo tips and such. But they are not above a joke or two as well. I for one will carry the 'white' mustache of a much older man, because I sat in the woods a little too long. Not one to give up, I did get my bird. I will try to find that post and place a link from here to there if someone does not do so sooner, lol.

As to the lack of SNOW . . . LOL, When you don't see snow in my pictures (like in May) you know I have gone south for a drive or such . . . gosh that is nice.
