I've been waiting since May to receive my "Cash in With Canon" rebate. Even after many e-mails and phone conversations with Canons rebate department. How satisfied have you been with Canons rebate program?

It would be nice, if someone has a contact number, to post it here. My rebate has been approved (sent it in Jan) but has not been mailed. I am waiting on $480 and would like to get my new 580EX.

My rebate on my 580 was rejected because they said I failed to include the logo from the box top! Not so. They must have lost it! I called the 888 #, had to submit a logo from the side of the box. Got a check about three weeks later.
I am still waiting on a $45 lens rebate, but it was purchased on the last day of the rebate period, and sent in several days later....We'll see how this one goes...???

Just checked the status of my $495.00 rebate. The check is in the mail. Sent everything in at the begining of January. So about seven weeks. I'll post and do the survey in a few days when I hopefully receive the check.

I bought my DRebel 7 days before the rebate began (I had no knowledge of it coming of course). However, I attended a Canon Display Day at the photography store that I bought my camera from just a few weeks later. I asked the Canon Rep about the rebate and if I was entitled to it. They went and talked to the Owner, came back with a yes and gave me the paperwork. After filling out all the "required info" and waiting for my $100, I received in the mail the notice that I would not be getting the rebate because I purchased out of the "dates" the rebate applied to. I had put an explanation of what transpired but it did not do any good. I was hoping to get the $100 bucks to buy more gear. Like I said in another post, if the 20D is offered with rebates hooray! The new version is soon to be released. What a gimmick to unload their old products.
To be honest I hate rebates, just discount the dang thing and let me buy it and not tie up my money. I think it is corporations gamble to make it to difficult to obtain a rebate and there hope that they NEVER have to reimburse you.
I was considering a new laptop with all the rebates from BestBuy only $599, but it will cost almost double that to get it out the door. And my mind goes back to these posts and my experiences.

Mailed rebate in November. Notified in December I was missing a model #. I mailed in a copy of what I mailed originally with model # circled. Recieved rebate in January. Total time about 10 weeks.

Qualified on-line in late December. Mailed in the paperwork sometime in January. The site shows they mailed the check 2 months after I pre-qualified, and about 1 month after I mailed in the paperwork (i.e., yesterday).

Oops, I voted for #2, but it should have been #3. I did get my full rebate, but it took many, many calls and I had to send a lot of my info in twice. Then they kept screwing up the checks. It took three seperate checks to finally get all the money to me.

My rebate got mailed this week. It took right at 6 weeks for the entire process. I cannot say I had any problems and it was a fairly substancial check - $480. Granted, it is not yet in my hands, but it is on the way. One step closer to the 580ex... BTW, I have not had to make a call for this to happen...

After many back and forth calls to and from Canon I've been told they would be sending me my rebates via DHL overnight and I should receive them Friday. Then I got another call telling me not Friday but Saturday. We shall see. I was told they mailed out 5 checks but for some reason none of them made it to my mailbox. Hopefully we all get our rebates eventually.

Well after many months of e-mail and phone calls I came home from the post office. My 20D arrived! :) When I got home there was a DHL mailer on my doorstep with my rebate checks. Double bonus! Finally the nightmare is over for me. Good luck to those still waiting. I guess the moral is don't give up. Keep bugging them until they deliver!

I got mine yesterday ($170) and immediately deposited it.
Beware that the notifications from Canon are a post card size piece. and the checks are not mailed in an envelope per se but one of those strip off the edges, top and bottom things that may be easy to over-look as junk mail (hey, it looks just like a lot of junk mail).
Obviously they hope you will forget about the rebates first off.
Then they hope you will screw up.
Then they hope you will not persevere.
Then they hope you will over-look the item when it comes.
I suspect there is a conscious effort to make rebate expenditures MEET pre-determined expectations and at least keep the amounts on budget within a particular financial quarter (to allow for predictive earnings to be on target).
In the long run I think they understand the risk of making rebates un-attractive but like coupons in grocery stores it's pretty much in the business model until the next "hot" idea comes around.

I Finally got mine yesterday after 1 round of missing information. OOPS. Actually, I thought the instructions could have been a little clearer regarding lenses. Now, I just need to figure out what to buy with the $$. Unfortunately it is not near enough to get the next L I want.

It was only $100 for the DRebel, but I ordered the camera kit on 12/27/04, sent the rebate info on 01/07/05 and received the rebate today, 02/25/05. Not out of the ordinary for rebates I think. I had to make no calls or follow-ups.

I pre-qualified my rebate and mailed in all my info on 2/3. I just checked mine online and it's in the Processing stage, but they say that I didn't submit a copy of a body/lens number so they are only paying $190 out of the $285 owed. I have copies of everything I sent in and I did send all of the required info, so it looks like I'll have to give them a call.
I've gotta say that I've never seen a rebate program that required as much info about each product as this one and then made as many errors as I've heard about and am currently experiencing in processing the rebates.

Sent my rebate app in Dec 27,2004-cerified mail-post office return showed they recieved it Dec 30,2004. Noticed on the web Feb 18, 2005, that they denied rebate because of no original logo included with app. Promptly called them early Monday A.M. Feb 21,2005. Told them I had a hard time with that because the box cut outs were scotch taped to the bottom of the app. and they obviously had the app. I reminded them that I had called before submitting the app to get specific instructions on what cut outs were acceptable. The nice lady said she would check it out and get something done about it. While still on the phone and after verification of what lenses I had purchased and hearing keyboard clicking in the background in a few minutes she said it was ok and that she had taken care of it, I would recieve my check within 4 weeks. WELL I LIKE HER WORK because I got the check today, Feb 25, 2005 for the full amount. Whew! grreat response to the phone call.

I preqalified for $420, but am entitled to only $250. They lost my logo for the 50/1.4 lens. When I receive their postcard, I am supposed to mail the card and logo back to them. Problem is I sold the lens and got the 1.8 instead. This made the "boss" happier. Now I need to find someone who will let me have the logo cut out.
Thanks

PostOffice tracking showed my rebate application was delivered Jan 27, checking the online status, canon did not show it received well over a week later. I just checked today and it is in the processing stage, but reports an error that i did not include a copy of my warranty card, but I know I did (for the camera and the 2 rebate lenses).
I just made new copies to send in.
^^^
not needed!
I called the rebate center (found the number on this forum) and after a very short wait (maybe 5 minutes while they looked up something), my issue was resolved. I think the original error flag was because I sent in copies of what I thought were the USA warranty cards, but actually just the USA dealer record of canon purchase and they really wanted the card section to the right which I thought was only the 'out of usa' warranty card. Anyway, during the call they accepted what I had originally sent and approved my rebate. Said expect in 3-4 weeks. Online check status now reports check approved.
BTW - The person who took my call was very pleasant and efficient and I must say very good for any call center ('course it doesn't hurt that I got my problem resolved)

I sent in the one for my DReb in Dec, my 50 MM 1.4 in Jan. I had to call when I saw on the web site that it didn't automatically get a double amount as stated in the agreement. When I called and spoke to someone he updated it and since then yesterday I received my $100 and have $130 left to come. It is worth it to check on the site to verify the activity and call with any questions. They are really very helpful.

I finally got around to calling the rebate center to ask which of the body numbers they thought I hadn't submitted. The person I spoke to told me it was for my 20D and gave me all the info on what I needed to resubmit even though I had already sent it. After photocopying the info and mailing it, I realized that this was pretty stupid because they didn't complain that I was missing the UPC code that is on the same panel that I photocopied for the body number. Not only that, but the body number is also on the warranty card. So, I called back and explained the situation to Crystal who authorized the additional check to be sent and wondered why the first person I spoke to hadn't resolved the situation. It seems that whoever entered my original info keyed in the body number in the wrong place. I guess the moral is to be persistent. I'll keep my fingers crossed until the checks arrive.

Hi all, I'm new to this forum (thanks Geoff!).
I recently recieved a Denial postcard from Canon stating that I had submitted duplicate camera body/lens ID numbers
This troubles me greatly! I bought my camera from a well regarded dealer called "Pro Photo Connection" in Irvine, CA, in new-in-the-box condition.
Has this happened to anyone else? I have not yet approached Pro Photo about this (I will be later this week), but I really dont' know what my options are. Does anyone have a reccommendation for a plan of action I can pursue with Canon?
Regards,
Nathan Woods

Well, it appears that Crystal did a great job and I got my check for the additional, disputed $95 yesterday. Unfortunately, I've never received the original check for $190! When I called the rebate center again today, I was told that my inquiry into the $95 that was denied had caused my original $190 to be delayed, but I could expect the check to be mailed within 4 weeks! So, that's 1 week for the disputed $95 and 9 weeks for the other $190 that had no issues. Amazing!!

Rebates seem to have opened up a whole "nuther" corollary to Murphy's Law. I would love to be in the room and see how they actually do them. They make it seem like it's "rocket science" whereas it's really like the "frequent flyer miles" commercial with David Spade, where the script seems to call for "no", as in no cut-outs, no such UPC, no warranty copy, no clue. Well, actually there is a clue. If they really wanted to sell the camera for less they would have dropped the price. ;)
Jon

Bear in mind that on this thread you're only seeing a limited subset of the total number of filers. In one of the 2003-ish rebate deals, they told me I hadn't sent in the right bar code. I checked the box and they were right. I sent that in to the resubmission address they gave me, and Hey, Presto!, I got the rebate (forget whether it was the 1-3 lenses deal or the PowerShot/printer deal - the other one went just fine).

Rebates are a marketing gimick, a sale without a sale. A way to make your product look cheaper than it really is.
Firms are happy when they fill less than 20% of rebates, if they fill more than 20% they consider the promotion a bust.

I dont know about that but I can tell you that the rebate rocks as far as I'm concerned. When I get my rebate check in a few days that means I only paid $600 for my rebel kit! That included everything !! Lens and all the software and cables + warranty. You want to know the best part? I only had my rebel for 4 weeks and turned around and sold it on ebay for $750 so I made over $100 profit with a used rebel !!!! Guess what else, I'm holding a 20D in my hand now.. LOL.. I ordered the 20D as soon as I got the check for the rebel. Pretty cool huh, Get a rebel, use it hardcore for a month, sell it make money!

I'm still waiting for my rebate. It's only $20 so I don't really care, but I followed all the instructions to the letter, and even pre-registered. Pack of theiving bastards they are, IMO, the only reason to run a rebate program instead of giving the discount is to rip people off or hope people don't/can't claim the rebate.

First time I sent it in it was returned with insufficient postage. Annoying as I mailed it from a post office and they weighed it and told me how much it would cost. It had a trippler thing going on. The rebate on the rebel was $100 but if you bought two other items on the rebate program they all got trippled. With a 17-40, and my step dads RebelD and 75-300 IS it pushed the rebate up to $420.

Needless to say I've gone way beyond upset! If I didn't have as much money invested in my Canon DSLR system I would never buy another damn thing from Canon again.   As far as I can tell this is a new low in customer "service" It took me over 10 months just to get the checks now I'm out $20 more than when I started this whole thing. To make things worse. I tried calling the representative that I've been talking to and she is on vacation. So are you saying you found a store that would give you a full refund after you cut a hole in the box?
Or are you saying the normally strict rebate folks decided to let slip the fact that you didn't include a chunk of box, the specific thing they check for to stop people doing that?

Funny: I had two rebates. The first one came back with an error (according to them, but not really). After calling and talking to a supervisor I got the money right away. The second one was sent in at the same time for identical items and came back about 6 weeks later, but $30 more.
This system certainly does not inspire confidence! I'm not sure I'll use it again. Next time they will probably make a mistake in the other direction.

I'm feeling pretty good about the Canon rebate program right now. Got all my rebates. I ended up getting a D Rebel w/lens for $420. Yeah, I had to buy a couple more lens, but with the triple rebates I could sell the lens at a profit if I so desired. My only disappointment is finding out that Canon doesn't routinely offer triple rebates as I already have my list of three for the next offering!

Well, the good news is that I just got my rebate yesterday ! :D Thats actually surprising to me because I have two other rebates (Officemax and Kingston) that I actually sent before the Canon one and I still havent received those two yet.
I'm very satistifed with the turn around time of the Canon rebate

My $100 Drebel rebate is in the mail as of 3/24/05. Mailed off everything 1st week of January. Almost 3 months. I also purchased an IP4000 printer in February and received my $100 debit card last week. You can take advantage of both rebates with the purchase of the Drebel.

I got my $225 triple rebate check today.
This round was much smoother than previous rebates - it looks like they have a new fulfillment company. The Web site showed the progress, and the check came in a snap-open 'envelope'. Much better than the post card that came from the last rebate (less for other eyes to see).
Have Fun,

Finally got my my check for $190 - which was actually approved a month ago, but allegedly was held up because I called to straighten out the additional amount that they at first denied. I had to call them one more time at the beginning of this week to explain exactly how ludicrous that was (in as nice a way as I could of course) and that seem to do the trick. What a pain in the butt this whole experience has been - but it did pay for my 1.4 extender. :D

My rebate turned up today, 3 months or so after I sent it in. I had the rebate sent to a mate in the states, now he has to send the rebate (and the Tamron rebate which came very quickly) to me to deposit in my NZ account.

I received $100 rebate some 5-6 weeks after submitting all the stuff for Digital Rebel. I did not have to hound them for the rebate over the phone, as I had to do with my Epson printer.

My final rebate has arrived over the weekend. So all three rebates (2x single, 1x triple). Not bad. Hope another one come soon, I need a 70-200 IS!

I got $60 out of an expected $90. Canon said I was missing my camera body number. As I copied everything I had sent in I knew that the number was included as well. I resubmitted and am still waiting for the other $30.

I just got mine for the 24-70L. I purchased it on the last day of the promotion, and mailed it in about Feb 6, and got it March 23rd.
This is the first time it has gone without a hitch!!!

Received the Connect and Score $100 Gift card this week. It does come with a lot of rules attached on how to use it. Service fees and penalties also. Expires in 90 days. Any balance after that will be forfieted. A monthly service charge of $2.50 will be assessed. A $25.00 excess usage fee.. If you should attempt to use it for a purchase of more than the balance residing on the card. Be careful at restaurants. They always get approved for 20% more than the bill, to cover for the gratuity.. Cannot use card at a pay at the pump gasoline purchase. Going to try to deplete my balance rather quickly. This method of getting your rebate money is worse than all of the paperwork, copying, cutting out, that you have to go thru to qualify for the rebate. Just by chance that someone in Canon Marketing Promotions looks at this website: Just send us a check. This gift card method sucks...

You dont. Not for this one anyway. It ended Jan 31st and if I remember right, the 20D did not qualify in the first place.
