I'm buying a printer for digital photos. Is there any difference in quality between an inkjet designed for photos and a color laser? I realize there's a big difference in price, about $200 vs. $800. Would after purchase costs, cartridges vs. toner come into play in terms of total costs? Thanks for your opinions, Larry.

Larry,
For digital photos, you will be better off with an inkjet. Sometimes cheaper is better. :)

for photo printing, a high quality inkjet ($250) is much better than a mid priced color lazer printer ($2000), and a dye-sublimation printer is about as good as an inkjet, not quite as sharp for the same price, but much truer colour reproduction.
look into both inkjet and dye-sub printers, and see if you can get a photo printed on each to make your final decision...
