in a country town today I was taking a picture of this doorway
(it's not a church doorway) when the man happened to walk right inhttp://www.photography-on-the.net/forum/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif
http://www.photography-on-the.net/forum/images/smilies/icon_confused.gif
the path is sloping to the left as the street was hilly

Great shot, Post it in B&W and it would really be a Cartier-Bresson shot "the precise moment" to paraphrase Bresson.  very very nice

Very interesting. I especially like how nothing interferes with the focal point. I want to see it in B&W also.

A very unusual entrance. Gothic but not a church. (What is it?) Looks like a pocket door with a hinged door right behnd it. A step right behind the pocket door. (Lots of building code issues here.) It was fortunate that the man came by to show us.
Enough with the details (fallout from my profession). :) It's a wonderful photograph. You were once again able to capture the magical moment. If the man had been coming out instead of going in it would have been an entirely different image - not as thought provoking as this one.
Youve got an eye, Marie. From pink jeeps to old men, you know a moment worth saving.

Very nice photograph. I'm just curious about the fogginess over the image. Is it actual fog/mist?

I don't know what exactly the building is used for
looks something like a parish hall to me
I never got a chance to ask but will... next time I am there.
I was across the street and waiting for traffic to pass when he walked in
http://www.photography-on-the.net/forum/images/smilies/icon_eek.gif
was I praying .....oh please let the **^ car go past quickhttp://www.photography-on-the.net/forum/images/smilies/icon_lol.gif
so as I could capture him going in
I was only a few seconds there altogether
I wanted to get a shot of the whole building also so took the two girls passing
...just in case anyone askedhttp://www.photography-on-the.net/forum/images/smilies/icon_lol.gif what was the building like
http://www.photoshare.co.nz/PhotoShareGallery1/100543/103593/IMG_6550copy2051_M.jpg
the shot is not as effective as the door on it's own
the top left hand window seems to be turning the corner ever so slightly
and is blurry too

I was a bit annoyed with that too blur
it's what I kept seeing when I was posting the picture
as it was late at night I just turned off the computer and went to bed,
hoping the fog would go away:lol:
I think it may be that as I was aiming for the man to be clear I got that part a bit sharper then the rest of the door.
then again maybe the paint on the door is foggy looking in reality
I don't know for sure.

You seem to be pretty handy with that camera. I guess the reason I asked is because I think it's interesting when someone chooses a particular lens for a certain type of photography. You seem to have found you niche with people and I thought maybe you were fond of a particular focal lenght for the pictures you make. I think Cartier Bresson(excuse the mis spelling) used a 50 or 35 for most of his shots and it just sort of lends itself to a style. Anyway, love your shots, keep em coming.
