Thank you for the kind words Leesa - the whole thing was really wierd. About 2 weeks ago the back of my left shoulder starting aching, with pain radiating down my left arm. Then one week ago I had a really bad sneeze which really racked the pained area.
The next day it took me 20 minutes just to get dressed, which was total agony. Jeanne came home from work and rushed me to the emergency room where we stayed for 10 hours. One complication was the wedding I had to shoot this past Sunday; fortunately the fellow who did my daughter's wedding was able to fill in for me.
The doc was shocked at my neck x-rays and MRI, and thought that I'd either been in some sort of traumatic accident, or had been playing tackle football way to long. Neither is the case.
Basically my spine needs work, has been compressing down - BIG surprise.... no prior warning, and tomorrow they will shore it up with some metal plates and other devices. My attitude after meeting with the neurosurgeon: "How soon are you available; bring it ON, Let's DO IT!"
I've got too much I want to do yet at my ripe young age of 57, and want to put this behind me as quickly as possible so I can get on with life.

Thank you Tom - appreciate it. The pain I can more or less deal with, the inactivity will kill me; I'm not used to sitting around.
Stu.... sorry to hear that! :(

Well Tom, I look on the bright side - I have health care PLUS a wonderful wife who has also been a nurse for 42 years. She has been taking ABSOLUTELY terrific care of me.
Also, this was pretty much at the end of my shooting season but 09' is probably going to be a bust for me - oh well, could be worse.;)
sorry to hear about that Stu .. hope you recover fast !!! and be well

Hello there my friends ...... it has been a while, and not of my choosing. I probably won't be checking in for some time to come. It all depends upon how my surgery goes tomorrow morning.
I'll try to give the short version - typing is difficult in spite of the pain meds  Out of the blue, I've been hit with a herniated disk, and doc is going to see how much of it he can repair Friday. The operation will be about 4 hours, I won't be able to drive for 6 weeks, and they are saying I'll have to wear one of those "collars" for 6-12 months.
Needless to say, my active photography life has now been put totally on hold. - Stu
Stu,
I am so sorry to hear this...I wish you a successful surgery and a speedy recovery. I'll keep you in my thoughts and prayers.

You know... I LOVE to read! But lately I don't have much time to. :(
and I hate to read, but lately I've been reading more and more...
I finally have finished book seven in the Harry Potter series. I was very happy with how it ends up...and she left it wide open for a sequel. I am now re-reading the Nero Wolfe series...starting with book one...Fer De Lance :)
Reading is an important part of my life...I read every night before I got to bed...keeps the mind free of work and issues.

Stu - good luck with the surgery and here's to a speedy recovery!!
My November bride confirmed yesterday so I'm happy to have something to do on that Monday evening :) Looking forward to it ... she's included a dvd so I have to brush up on that as I haven't made one in ages LOL Must find the software code as the ProShow Gold was on the laptop that bit the dust and I need to download it to the new one now...
My August bride with the album LOVES it and so it will be heading off to print as soon as I tidy up a couple of images. I can't wait to see it...it's the largest one I've made and I think it will be awesome.

So, not real sure about it.

But it has controls I just never messed with them before.
It's pretty cool
and Luke has a program you can buy that allows you to burn those to CD but it's only PC based right now. Luke is hmm Lukearms I think is his SN on here or WFF.

My G10 "Down & Dirty" Review:
Bottom Line: I love this P&S camera! It has a permanent home in my glovebox
Pros:
- Built like a "brick"
- Small, compact...how did they cram all the features into such a small box?
- Sharp, contrasty photos
- Has SLR-like controls to include a wheel on the back
- Has dial up ISO and Exp Comp on top of the camera for quick access
- Constant f/2.8
- IS
- 5X zoom
- Reasonable battery life (400-1,000 shots depending on LCD use)
- P, Tv, Av modes on dial up
- Large LCD display
- Live view with real time histogram
- Has an optical viewfinder as well as "live view" LCD...this is a deal maker for me...LCDs don't work in bright sunlight!
Cons:
- Photos at ISO > 400 are the grainy pits...Noise Ninja is a must...come on Canon...you can do better than this!
- It is almost too small for my big hands
- It no longer has the folding LCD display...this was a trade off to get a larger LCD display
- The world's smallest and most "gobblygook" filled User's Manual I have ever seen! I downloded the manual at work (Shhh...) and printed me an 8x10 copy in a GBC binder...at least I can read it now. As for the content, well.....
Here are two photo samples:

You're welcome, Lisa. A P&S is a must for me after missing a wonderful photo op a couple of months ago. So, I decided to get a quality P&S and keep it with me at all times. The G10 isn't cheap but it is a quality product that produces quality photos.

Your tree shots are always spectacular, beautiful shot!
Thanks for commenting on all my posts, you're a trooper! lol I always enjoy looking at other peoples work and I get ideas from doing so. Hi, All! I had a good weekend because I got to head out for a dive yesterday :) I'll probably put a thread up eventually over in wildlife, but here's a head shot of a different kind - this is a Moridilla brockii nudibranch.

Today I am putting the final touches on my bride's lbum and sending it off for print. I can't wait to see the final product!

Hey Leesa - my typing is a bit challenging.... usually have to do it over it at this poit . Been out of it for while, so is this the new Missouri house that Jim has built? Quite an accomplishment there.
Hi Stu...
Just redoing, we totally tore out the inside, we are almost at painting, inside, then the floors and cabinets etc...
the addition will hold my office, a master bedroom/bath and family room. But it may be spring now before that happens, but that is okay, I can work with it...I can work with it,,,did I say I can work with it!!! LOL
You seem to be doing very well..

Sounds like you guys are accomplishing a lot - that's terrific. By the time you are done it should be just the way you like.
Well, I'm hanging in there. The whole pain management thing with they way they made the incision on the front of my throat, takes some getting used to. It sort of feels like somebody punched me in the throat whenever I try to swallow. There's also the constant unpleasant, rigid pressure of the neck brace.... but I will survive. The pain pills help, but it's nothing I want to get in a regular habit of using ;).

Thank you Kristin - I'm doing my best to maintain a positive attitude and put this behind me. My wife the nurse has been absolutely super too, taking wonderful care of me. She even shaves me, and what a wonderful difference that makes :D; can't tell you how much better I feel afterwards.

Kristen great underwater shots, I left comments:D
Stu, it's great to see you and I'm glad you did well with the surgery. Sounds like you are pretty uncomfortable right now, sorry to hear that, but it sounds like you are keeping a positive attitude about the whole mess.

Okay Tommy dear, please don't hate me, I am going to be honest.
#1 is GREAT, I love it! Great look, pose, B&W conversion, nice lighting.
#2 is reall good too, great idea & pose, BUT the shoes are lost in the BG and unless you look real close you miss the heel hooked in her string. White shoes next time!:D
#3 ...here goes...I like the lighting and the idea but the pose IMO is HORRID! To me it looks like she is either ready to play leap frog, or ......this is bad....she reminds me of one of those half human/half horse creatures in fairy tales.
Sorrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrryyyyyyyyyyy!

No, god, please no to the white shoes!
How about a different background color? How about a little back light?
Red shoes are always good.
But dear god no white stilettos
LOL sorry, Kathy!

Maybe it's because I'm female. lol When I look at #3 longer I can get past it, but for some reason it just hits me as minotaur. DAMN!
Please don't be offended by this, but this is why it does that to my vision!

I'm still looking at 3. can't figure out what to do, maybe a knee down, or two sitting on her legs?
I really LOVE 2, what a cute idea...I think a back light may have helped.

Maureen - don't say "messy" where Lisa can hear you. She's a little compulsive about that kind of thing!
I hear you though. My desk is under control but the house and yard are not. Hubby is away for most of the month and I've promised myself that I will simply get in and have it all done - bar HIS office - before he gets back. One little thing at a time...I just hope a month is long enough :D
