I spent mine in the back of the van sleeping. Caught the flu...How I have NO idea! But kept me from eating LOL. I missed Thanksgiving...But, feeling much better today, daughter and I are going to a movie, shopping then a wedding rehearsal. Our last wedding of the year tomorrow: Mixed emotions.

Hope everyone has a great day...

Good morning all and happy Sunday!:D

I get to take it easy today after 9 days of what seemed like non stop shooting! No kidding, I had a hard time keeping all the batteries charged!

Speaking of batteries......I use 2500mAh rechargeables in my 580 flash. And I use them "A LOT", I have several sets of 4 that I rotate almost daily during my busy times. My stepson told me that I should completely drain the power from them before I recharge. Well, that never happens so I recharge them even at half used. Does this mean they will not work as well as they would if I completely drained them before recharging? Remember I am kind of a dummy about some things, so I have to ask questions!:D

Hey girl...

I have to get to that wedding...thought it was my last, now I am helping a young photog on Sat shoot a wedding. Ha! She just bought herself a noink, I told her I was really not supposed to speak to her anymore, and did show her the nikon cafe and Nikonians forums and she joined them.

So, the bride is beautiful...both her and the groom have very strong facial features and amazing. SO, I'm excited to do it and it will keep me from doing what I was going to do....

Super Busy working on the house.

How've you been?

House? Remodeling?

I've been good, pretty busy with pictures.

Have you been snowboarding? Our Mt. Bachelor that usually opens for full business every year on Thanksgiving day has 7 inches of snow and it's man made! It's been a really weird year here as far as weather, not anything like normal. They opened two chairs for turkey day and thats it!

I am roasting another turkey! I got two turkeys because we were going to be loaded with company, then some of the other in-laws ended up coming to town and we all went and ate with them, so I have a ton of food left. Both turkeys were thawing in the fridge so I had to do something with them. We will be eating turkey for days! So maybe for X-mas dinner we will have tacos! lol

Well, this Christmas I will be here, till Jan. 13th, that is my move date. I have a bridal show that weekend and will stay in the empty house for a couple days...with lap top! :-)

I am enjoying my chicken noodle soup!

Jim just called they made it "almost" to 71, they are backed up for miles and miles and miles...not sure what has happened.

Oh and we rented our home....so I guess that is good, to a friend of ours who just moved back here from Arizonia...

happy Monday morning, All. I survived the weekend but I have to say 13-14 hour days at my real job are not nearly as much fun as they sound :D

Kathy - I charge my batteries when they aren't empty and they seem to work fine and don't seem to die unreasonably early so far either. I think some of the older batteries and chargers maybe caused problems? I'm using Sanyos & Sony's for my NiMh and Imedions (like Eneloops), too.

LeesaB
30th of November 2008 (Sun), 19:24
I did not see you mention batteries and charges. From what I know (not a lot) Batteries used to come with "memory", so if you charged a battery that was say, 1/2 or 1/4 still charged, then you loose that amount of space on that battery after you charge it. It basically remembers where you charged it and considers that the full spot.

I know a few years ago a lot of battery companies started to make the change away from those types of batteries....So I think you are pretty safe now...

Cell phones were horrible with this.

Jon
30th of November 2008 (Sun), 19:25
"Memory" issues were with NiCd cells. Nobody uses them any more if they can avoid it. It's not an issue with either NiMH or Li ion cells.

Make him feel really bad. If you habitually run Li-ion cells flat, you shorten their life.

Morning ladies and germs. I don't know if anybody has seen this, but if anybody needs some CF Cards, check this out:

http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=607845

There are some terrific deals to be had, even without the rebates. And with the rebates, it looks like the stuff is free, less some cheap shipping. I just ordered three of the 4GB Ultra III cards.

Had to come share some cool news. a LONG time ago I hosted a girl from Spain in my home for a school year. She was actually hoping NOT to come to the US and wanted to go back home, but we got tagged for her, she was an awesome tennis player as was my daughter...

Long story short, she was rebellious and hated it in America and counted the days to go home. In fact, near the end she found another family to live with that let her leave a week early, it was crazy.

I've thought about her through the years and always wondered how she was, what ever happened to her.

My daughter found her on facebook....we've both asked to be friends, I am not sure if she will or not, but it will be interesting to see what happens.

Wow, how cool.

We always joke because she had this really cute totally wool sweater and threw it in with our clothes, we washed it and it came out the same size as a cabbage patch doll would wear. Because she was so angry no one wanted to tell her what happened to her sweater...I finally had too. She must have taken it well...I'm still alive.

That's pretty cool!

I was an exchange student to Australia while I was in high school and I would LOVE to reconnect with some of those who were here, too. I've found a couple of groups on FB that might conjure up some blasts from the past, but not so far!

I hear you Jim - I guess it's just a little bit hard to let go of some things.

The grass cutting is some of my walking exercise and the backyard is pretty with the critters, birds, and nearby woods. I don't care for leaf raking at all so I was happy to hire the guy yesterday for the final cleanup ;).

And the most important thing - my wife was extremely pleased when she arrived home from work to the view of an extremely neat and tidy yard.

Fall Cleanup - $100.00
Wife's Appreciation - Priceless

- Stu

FB is fun. All my immediate family and cousins are on it and we use it to keep each other updated on each others lives. I also post a lot of photos there as well.

When our girls were growing up we hosted a teenager for a year from Germany. She was a wonderful young lady and we all enjoyed the experience. The following year she asked to come back and she brought her younger sister so we had two exchange students in the house that year. I will always rememebr their fascination with hamburgers...they both loved Fudruckers Hamburger Restaurant:) When we picked up Martina and her sister at the airport on the second year we had to drive straight to Fudruckers for a burger :)

Good Morning, Stu. I hope your recovery continues to speed along and you are back in the "photography" saddle soon.

Good news, I came home last night to a clean yard and neatly trimmed shrubs and bushes :) Thank you MowCow! Now for the bill :(

Good morning guys!

Stu it's nice to see you again, I have been following this thread whenever I get a chance so I have read that you're recovering fine, that's great! Sounds like you had quite a bit of uncomfortable time, but now all is well?

How's the weather back where you guys are? We still don't have any snow here and very little in the mountains, very uncommon for these parts.

Good Morning everyone!

Thanks for the comments. I'll be over there in a few.

Well, my renter is moving things into the garage today... Deadline keeps getting closer and closer...

I'm hoping so too Jim - thank you. I see the neurosurgeon this coming Monday and I'm hoping he'll ease some of my neckbrace restrictions soon. My biggest concern is photo jobs.

Likely for some time I'll have to wear this #@!^&)(*&&%^$ thing anytime I go outside. If that includes weddings and other social event jobs.... well, I'm not so sure how the bride will feel if I show up in a neckbrace.

As for the clean yard - that was actually my wife's line :D. She was delighted to see everything neat and tidy when she got home.

Hey there Kathy - great to see you too!!:D

Just call me the digital Frankenstein with Canon in hand and plates and screws in my neck . I must be feeling much better - my wife and I are starting to get on each other's nerves. Before this when I was in pain and on Vicodin I just didn't give a damn about anything.

HA! I can identify with you on the Vicodin! I am not big on medications and usually just suffer and get through it but several times last summer when my hip was giving me trouble, I gave in to the lure of the pain killers and yes, I just didn't give a damn about anything! lol

I know what you mean Kathy - all that crap scares me.

They'd given my Oxy also, and as fast as possible I weened myself off both of those pills. I rather put up with a little pain and have a clearer head. Usually two big tylenol at bedtime would help me get through the night.

Okay I am seriously losing it! I was working away on photos and I get a call from a school secretary telling me that coach Ryan (? who) is waiting for me at blah blah blah gym, I am supposed to photograph his basketball team....where am I? CRAP! SO I rush back downtown to the gym and shoot the pictures, the whole time racking my brain as to why I forgot this appointment! Long story short...I had them down for next Wednesday! My mistake....Luckily Coach Ryan turns out to be a nice guy and all worked out fine. I appologized, he seemed to accept it, but damn I didn't like the feeling I had about this! Made myself sick! I can be irresponsible, but I don't want anyone else to know it!

okay rant over! lol

I got a call from an elderly man wanting me to photograph his elderly dog, a pomeranian(sp). He wants to get a "life size" print of it. This should be interesting!

I did a quick PS job to make our Holiday card. My wife wasn't too keen on what she could do online. I know there's a lot more that I could do with it, but this is as far as my rudimentary PS knowledge will get me.
