Finnish air force had some sort of training about month ago. They closed public road and they used it as a runaway.
It was pretty boring for me as they flew landing gear down all the time and I had access to one place only. I crossed the line one time but the MP didnt like that :(
Anyways, got few shots of planes landing

Excellent series...
First time I've seen this shot by someone who lives in the area where it's taking place. Only other instances I've seen have been by pro aviation writers in books...

We generally don't get too many planes landing on back country roads without being preceeded by the word: MAYDAY!

My friend Mariuz Adamski from Poland has a few like this too. Good work, and great vapor off the wings!! This goes back to the days when many countries in that area used Soviet A/C as their primary fighters. Tough birds to say the least.

Thanks for the comments all.
In here when air force has bigger training session they close part of public road as those are used as a runaway during war.
I think they want to practice landing as there are always so much forest around the roads

I was doing a little Google-ing and ran accross some similar activities by the Swedes...
They take a slightly different approach and they look for and then block out a certain square mileage that includes a suitable stretch of road as a runway, a house or two, maybe a barn or big shed and suitable terrain for defensive purposes.
These end up being, in a sense, makeshift, on the fly air bases where the house(s) become offices, the barn/shed becomes maintenance and the crews get dispersed among the hills.
Pretty slick actually...
Semmonka, could you tell if they were parking the aircraft off the sides of the road in camoflaged revetments or stalls?

I didnt go there that early so I didnt see. I would guess they used camoflage nets on the planes, if anything.
Thats how we covered our vehicles outside of the base when I was in the army. There was only few planes over night and the rest flew back to bases
