Actually like the hazy atmosphere.
A bit of added contrast (without loosing the hazy "feel") might improve it however.

Thank you for that René - A crowded rehearsal room, smoke machine working overtime and the front lighting failed.... I guess nearly every shot had the channels blown (thats the correct phrase ?) The only thing I could do was to de-saturate the shot. As you can see I'm new to this technique and so would welcome any tips that anybody has to offer to perfect this kind of shot. I have Photoshop CS available.

Well, the shot is underexposed IMO. About a stop.
Here's a quick edit:
Downloaded the image, and assigned sRGB.
Then did this:

To get this:
318254
Quite a bit of banding because it's a severe adjustment on an 8 bpc image. You could do better in Raw or 16bpc.
