If I were you, I would look into buying a 24-60 f/2.8 new, and spend the extra money you would save on shipping to send it in for calibration to make sure it's sharp. I've owned both lenses in the past, and I would recommend the 60 over the 70 to anyone, even if the 24-60 didn't cost half as much.

Thanks for your input. I considered getting the 24-60, but then what I thought was that I might as well get the 17-50 tamron if that were the case to get more range (since 10 away from 50 to 60 is less than 17-24). Do you agree?
